Duplicate news sources on Nook ST after sending to device

Hi I am using the latest version of calibre and the nook touch and when I send my news sources to the device I end up with duplicates of each news source on the nook. When I connect the nook and then view the news on the device through Calibre or just within Windows Explorer within the My Files folder on the Nook, no duplicates show up. however when I view the Library on my Nook, each news source is listed twice! Any idea what could be going wrong? Thanks.

I have two guess. Calibre is automatically sending new versions of the news source. Calibre is automatically sending the news to the device when you connect it and then you are manually sending it.

If you really only have one file for each new source (be sure to check the news, magazine and books folders in My Files for duplicates) then it sounds like there is something wrong with your Nook. There is no DB for instance with the Nook. It just reads the files that are on the device. Also check the SD card if you have one.

The problem with two copies showing up on the N2E of sideloaded content stored in My Files/Magazines and My Files/Newspapers is a Nook bug. Only one copy shows up if the files are moved to My Files/Books. I don't know why there need to be four separate folders anyway -- it doesn't seem to make any difference otherwise where sideloaded content goes. I know this was changed in a previous Calibre upgrade by user request, but maybe it would be better to change back to storing news under Books, at least until B&E fixes the bug. Kovid?

calibre sends downloaded news to the Magazines folder. The nook treats these specially, IIRC they are available under a special collection and so on. To me, that is worth duplicate entries.

The duplicate bug is only present when using the All filter. Using Books or News filters there are no duplicates.

Ah, that is helpful, thanks. With that workaround, I agree that it is better to keep news separately.
