Thank you for the suggestion. So far, it is not a problem. The unadorned Kindle is just light enough to hold comfortably, hence, no cover on the device, which would add to the weight. I shall be curious to see what the new Kindles weigh. I'm hoping that they will be lighter still.

I don't see any appeal to a stand, seems like you would have to sit just right to see the reader, could not move around etc...

more trouble then any advantage to me, what we need are glasses you can wear and the text is projected on them, you turn pages by eye movement. that's really the way to go.... |

I am exactly the opposite. One of the many reasons I like the K3 is its light and thin form. I prefer reading without a cover but, when traveling, regularly use my Amazon lighted cover -- the integrated light is great!

I prefer holding it naked, like I did for two weeks until my cover arrived. The cover adds a lot of bulk and its more uncomfortable to hold. But I'm no longer paranoid about someone or something messing up the screen when its lying around, now that it's covered though.

I suppose its a trade-off between comfort and security. |

My Kobo Touch has a Casecrown Regal Flip cover, in black, which surrounds the screen in solid black. (that would not have been an advantage if Borders had sent me the black I ordered, but a white/lilac turned up in Oz after a 5 week wait). I like the booklike front cover, because it shields my partners eyes from the booklight when I'm reading in bed. I can now read for hours and hours and hours and ..... zzzzzzz without being nagged.

I love the look of the Oberon covers - wish they had one for Kobo - sigh - |

I have leather cases for both of my Kindles. However, I don't use them unless I'm traveling or I need the light (K3 lighted cover). My Kindles go au natural when I'm reading.

I can't say enough about the lighted cover - substantial and very well made. I find it adds a lot of functionality, in addition to the integrated light.

I can understand the appeal of reading "naked" though, as I like reading the kobo without its cover. The padded back makes it very "holdable". However, overall the kindle is my fav, and I prefer it with its nice red lighted cover. |

For me & my K3, it's store and carry in a case that covers all sides and read without any encumbering cover.

Right now my K3 is running around naked as the day it was stamped in a factory in China.

My K2 was almost (except when reading at home) in an amazon case. Now I'm less a case fan since the death of my K2 came from a drop from the counter, while in it's case. Hit the side NOT protected, busted the E-ink. Ah well. new Kindle is nice but yeah the call for a case is lessened for me now.
