Best buy has decided to meet the price. There wll lines at opening on Sunday. I just went to a store nearby and they would not sell me one tonight.
http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Best-Bu...ht/true#M52462 Anyone know what Reader software is best for the WebOs software? |

Amazon UK seems to have shifted its stock to resellers and the price has dropped:
16 GB Touchpad at £275 + £6 shipping. 32 GB Touchpad at £305 + £6 shipping. That's not low enough to be attractive to me, given the issues. A pity. No change at Carphone Warehouse, Best Buy or Dabs in the UK yet. Graham |

bestbuy.com went live with the new prices.
I ordered a 32gb for myself and a 16gb for my dad, guess we'll see if they have enough inventory to ship them out. |

Not to thread-fart - but what will you guys do with these tablets?
The reviews are so-so and now that the WebOS is no longer supported, chances are you wont find more updates or software for the thing. No Android hack for it yet so you might hope one comes out but thats a bit of a guess. What are you going to use it for? |

But even if there is no further development you could use it for web browsing, email, calendar, task lists, music, Kindle and PDF reading, maps, Google docs, watching movies... it does work even if there are some issues. Graham Last edited by Graham; 08-21-2011 at 12:41 PM. |

I was able to order two 32gb Touchpads yesterday morning from BestBuy.com through in-store pickup. I tried to get two in the same transaction, but received an error message indicating that I was only allowed to purchase one. So I completed the transaction and then logged out and logged back in with my wife's account and ordered one for her.
She picked hers up in the early afternoon, but I didn't manage to get in to get mine until half an hour before they closed for the evening. One of the employees told me that I was lucky to have gotten it, as they had pulled them from the shelves yesterday at corporate's behest, only to be told later to put them back. Later they were told to pull them again at the end of the night; then over night they were made available on the website. He also told me that they had sold through the 16gb versions on Saturday rather quickly. |

There will likely be one more release of the OS itself (given that they've apparently said they'll be working on it 'til Oct '11), so as long as it doesn't introduce any gamebreaking bugs, a lack of further updates will be no problem. The willingness of 3rd parties to continue work on their existing apps could be a problem, but hopefully HP exercised a bit of quality control before letting apps in and kept out the ones with big bugs, so that shouldn't be so bad. Really, when compared with the competition in its price range, the TouchPad will continue to look VERY good for quite a while. At least until sub-$200 Android tablets (doubt we'll ever see anything higher than 7" in that range, however) start getting 3.x and capacitive screens, anyways. I'll use mine for movies, music, kindle-app (light reading only), angry birds, and the all important web surfing from the recliner while watching the big screen.
iirc it can run phone apps, but it runs them in a windowed mode, not too sure about that though. |

If that's true, then that pretty much guarantees that there will be more than enough of a library available to keep the $99/$149 Touchpad from being a wasted investment for people.
