Exclamation Content Server Logfile

I've been running the Calibre (ver. 8.14 currently) each evening. It allows me more freedon to roam while keeping my books on my pc rather than all on my phone. I just d/l my current book and delete it when finished. My wife does the same with her books, mags and favorite paper.

I saw that my content server logfile has grown quite large.

My question is: where is this logfile located? And...how can I delete it or truncate it so it doesn't continue to grow?

Are the logs actually outputted to a file? I was hoping to to use the access log in conjunction with fail2ban but couldn't find the files.

If you follow Kovid's advice above you should see the log files in the configuration directory.

Preferences - Miscellaneous - Open calibre configuration directory.

Thanks. For those who run a headless content server, the directory is:

~/.config/calibre

I run the content server as a service in Windows 7 and assume that this is a "headless server". Please elaborate on the path to the log file - '~/.config/calibre' is, I fear, too terse for my limited knowledge. Thanks.

That path is for a *nix flavour system, where '~' refers to the users home directory. It's not applicable to Windows systems.
Headless server means a server with no direct input devices- no keyboard/mouse, no monitor- that's only used as a network server. Running the content server on Windows is not a headless configuration, assuming it's your desktop box you're talking about.
That said, I can't currently tell you the location of the content server logfile on Windows, because I'm not currently at home.

For me, under Windows 7, the directory is %APPDATA%\Roaming\Calibre and the files are server_access_log.txt and server_error_log.txt

Thanks, Manichean. My problem is that the content server, running as a service, does not seem to maintain its log files, especially the access log, in the folder indicated in "Preferences...Miscellaneous". If I stop the service and run the content server from within Calibre, the access log is updated and resides where it should. Shut the server down and restart the service, and either another access log is used or the expected one is not updated. Or I am dilly, which is also not beyond the bounds of credibility. Probabilities favour no updates, because extensive searches could not find server_access_log.txt anywhere.

I have resolved my problem.
The location of the logfiles when running the server from within Calibre is, as PeterT pointed out, %APPDATA%\Roaming\Calibre.
When running Calibre as a service, on my system the logfiles are located on windows\system32\config\systemprofile\appdata\roam ing\calibre.
I did not find the files via a search because I had no access to config and lower.

That's probably because services are started using another user account than the one currently logged in.
