Sadly, we do have the identical water bottle gun. My SO forgets it and resorts to yelling instead - somehow expects the kitten to understand human logic. I end up yelling "Use the water gun" at her. Sigh.

my brother and his wife adopted one and Paddy is absolutely adorable. My sisters love playing with him when we're in Singapore

course, they had him recently neutered and he doesn't seem too happy with them at the moment...

Pet stores sell a bitter apple spray that animals find particularly repulsive, but I don't know how safe it is, despite the claims. Plain water works just fine.

Personally I believe it's the idea and the surprise rather than the water itself. Felicity often plays with water, doesn't mind walking through it on the veranda, etc., etc. No need for foul smelling stuff, except perhaps for perimeter barriers.

That looks like a fun thing, although I think Kita would have torn it to shreds and Lexie would be afraid of it. Lexie's favourite toy is a ping pong ball, almost everything is crooked in our house and she loved it when she hits it and it rolls back to her. A favourite of all of our cats, past and present, are to little fake chicks they sell at Easter for decoration. We once decorated the shop window for Easter and one of our cats made off with all the chicks, we still occasionally find one underneath shelving or in the basement.

It may turn out to be a dud for Felicity but I've simply got to order one of these! It's one of her favorite games to play and I get tired too quickly!

Which one did you get? There are 3 or 4 different toys in the vid. I like the undercover mouse (wonder if they sell it here?), but the spinning arm looks to be the most fun.

I just tried to order the Undercover Mouse, but the site wouldn't let me. It said my browser wouldn't accept cookies... Which makes me wonder about my gigantic cookie folder...

I have the undercover mouse - it's basically a variable speed motor with a flexible arm attached, which has a rubbery "mouse tail" on the end that just peeks out at the edge of the blanket as it spins. The motor has 4 speed settings, from slow -> fast -> faster -> random. It's hilarious to watch - the tail will run around the edge of the blanket, then stop, then wiggle back & forth rapidly to tease the cat, then start running again. There were excellent reviews on Amazon as to its durability - if the arm breaks or the tail comes off, you can either buy a replacement part or just tape/glue them back together again. My plus-size kitten gave it a work out - managed to pull the arm off the attachment to the motor - but it just snaps back on. This is one toy that she plays with until she's exhausted.
I'll post more about its durability as Stella "tests" it.
It uses 3 AA batteries - rechargeable ones are recommended if your cat likes it.

Stitchy - there are several "fulfilled by Amazon" marketplace vendors that sell this toy -- if you can get shipments from Amazon delivered to you.

Thanks. I'll give them a try. As a last resort I can always have it shipped to my US re-shipper. Just takes a bit longer that way.

Update: Undercover Mouse is a hit with all 3 cats - even stodgy old Sammy cat played tonight with it - all 3 were circling the mat - playing nicely with each other! Stella plays till she drops over - giving her tired human parents some much needed rest.

I've been wanting a radio-controlled car for Norton, but most of the ones I've seen have an eye-goring antenna attached. Those that use internal antennas seem to have terrible user reviews; most of which say you have to stand within two or three feet of the car to control it.

A nice, radio-controlled car with an effective internal antenna and large wheels for carpets. That's all I ask.
