This might have something to do with the patents that Apple recently acquired.

You couldn't open a book by turning pages with your hands. Imagine the trouble of reading the entire book if you didn't pay the page turning by hands license fee

Arnout Groen, a lawyer with the Dutch firm Klos Morel Vos & Schaap, specialized in intellectual property rights litigation, is baffled. "This is a blunder. That such a 'mistake' is made in a case about design rights can scarcely be a coincidence. ... The aspect ratio of the alleged Galaxy Tab is clearly distorted to match the iPad more closely. Inasmuch as this faux pas will have consequences for the case is of course up to the judge. But at least a reprimand by the German judge seems to be in order."

The PC mag article is just linkbait. Look at the petition I linked to - there are a lot of other pictures in there showing the different sizes and aspect ratios of the two devices, and none of the specific claims in the petition are based on a claim of identical size or aspect ratio.

If it is a purely US concept, you have a point. But only in that case.

I suspect the court based their decision on evidence other than photos provided by Apple. Just a guess, though.

When did the US change?? Apart from the fact that this thread is talking about a lawsuit and US lawyers are just the same as any others... facts are entirely irrelevant to winning a case...

I've been in half a dozen telecom stores in Dusseldorf today.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 still is on sale.
I've asked the Vodafone sales staff: "That's only our remaining stock. We're allowed to sell them, but then we're done (for now)".
They didn't tell. But from their behaviour, my guess would be, it doesn't sell very well anyway.
I guess, Germany is kind of an Apple highground. Maybe there's a good reason, why Apple chose Germany for the legal actions?
