Oddly enough I actually had typed coffee maker and then thought I'd be a smartass and do a google search for kitchen items that begin with the letter c.

Isn't the definition of tea "A hot drink made by infusing the dried, crushed leaves of the tea plant in boiling water?" And we use the leaves of the rooibos plant to make the beverage in question, so why isn't it tea?

Well Rooibos isn't strictly speaking a tea plant, any more than mint or orange are, but you get "teas" based on both of these. I wouldn't call orange a tea, though. Would you?
