Dale,
I wonder if you have to hit sync even though the files are already on the card in the reader?

Should I format my SDHC Card as FAT32 or EXT2 or EXT3....? By sideloading you mean that I should transfer my books to the Literati's SDHC Card while it's plugged directly into my PC laptop via the USB 2.0 cable...?

FAT32 is the spec format for SDHC cards. It is the one you should use. you can transfer directly using a SD card reader or you can using the Literati plugged into the computer. There is no difference unless you need to use ADE DRM files such as Kobo in which case you need to register the literati with ADE. Kobo eBooks is the one case where a sync is necessary unless you download the ePub version and then you can also use ADE.

I read on a eReader review site or some eReader blog that you should Reset your Literati after updating its firmware. Do they mean the Factory Reset or the straightened paper clip that you use to do a Warm Reboot of the unit...?

Ok; I finally got Calibre to co-operate & work right last night. I also tried a Factory Reset hoping it would check my Literati's RAM based FS for bad blocks & run fsck -fy /... No such luck & it froze up so bad that I had to reinstall the V. 2.0 Firmware Update. My guess at this point is that my SanDisk 8 GB SDHC card might be incompatible with the Literati's firmware.

I read on a review site that they only can recognize certain brands of SDHC cards & I think the Black Literati (i.e.: model number 19023) must have issues recognizing newer SanDisk 8 GB SDHC cards in general...

I am trying to use this literati again it was working awhile ago and I stopped using it for a bit, now when I turn it on my screen is all messed up...I tried resetting it but, it keeps doing the same thing when I turn it on. Anyone ever have this happen or maybe people know how to fix it? Here is a picture of what the screen does when i turn it on.

sorry if this image is large but i'd like for people to see the problem

Looks like the screen is broken. That curved line like the break.

Merch Source has 2 Customer Service numbers for hardware issues (I was given this number as well when I e-mailed Sharper Image about an issue with my charging cover).

866-204-4714 is Kobo's customer support help line for software issues.

The website told me message wasn't sent a dozen times
The phone numbers REPEATEDLY hung up on me telling me call volume was heavy and to try calling back suggesting doing so within a three hour window
I even called Sharper Image's offices in New York who told me it was another company that they gave the right to use their name,he was very nice about it and promised to contact them for me,guess he couldn't get thru either he never called back.
But wait it gets better,I finally got an answer and talked to Eddie, who told me to do the same things I already tried(I got his name then when I told him I already did it and what the H do I do when it still don't work) He gave me his extension so I could call him back and 3 hours later when it finally came up again empty bookshelf. He promised to send box to ship 4 repair. That was Monday, today is Friday,Oh yeah when they finally get it ,it will take 4-6 weeks, ain't that wunnerful cust service!!
