I for one do not like touch screens and ANY fingerprints are too many.
Nor do I want to have to use something other than my finger to turn the page.

I looked ant the various readers then went out and bought Three kindles,
and may likely be buying a forth for my son because he likes them as well.

If your device is so great why do you feel the need to put down other
devices to try to convince yourself at to the superiority of your device?

It seems to me you are either Trolling or have a bad case of Kindle Envy.

I don't think Wolf's trolling, I think those who oppose him are trolling. Like someone I could name (I don't mean Harry_Y)

I don't understand why people keep talking about fingerprints on eInk devices!!! Maybe that's an issue on the iPad, but that's due to its screen. With normal use, fingerprints don't show. I have to clean my screen because of dust, not fingerprints.

They certainly show up for me on my Sony.

I agree, I have to wipe off dust and cat hair on a daily basis, but fingerprints are not really a distraction on the touchscreen eInks I've owned.

What I don't like is that I have fat fingers and find the touch screen to be much less accurate than the Kindle's 5-way controller when it comes to such things as text selection or looking up a word in the dictionary. Sure, there are things it's better for: opening a book, for example, is much easier. But overall I much prefer the Kindle's physical keyboard and 5-way controller.
Sony's touchscreens seem to be tuned more for stylus use than fingertip use. (I had the 350 and 950). Fingertip selection rarely worked whereas using the stylus or a fingernail usually did. The Kobo Touch I tried out for a couple of weeks was the opposite--it would not work at all with the Sony 350 stylus but did okay with the fingertip. But both the Sonys and Kobo, though the same technology just fine tuned differently, were not as responsive nor as fast as using my K3 keyboard and 5-way controller in most instances. Plus one drawback to the IR touchscreens is that any small object or even a fold of material from your shirt can cause the pages to start turning, so you have to keep them free of debris.

Now to each her or his own, but I personally find it a distraction to have to swipe or touch the screen to turn pages. I prefer well situated page buttons like on the K3. Sony placed their page buttons in a terrible location unless you are reading in landscape and left handed. Kobo chose to not have page buttons. But buttons are what I like even if 99% of other people don't.

I would like to see a better 5-way controller and a better location for same and I want my number keys back as ALT + QWERTYUIOP is a pain.

Go touch screens. Much nicer for navigation & highlighting a word for a quick definition.
Also, I shall expect an HD screen like the new iRiver's. That or a 7-inch.

There's nothing obsolete about downloading a book from Amazon's store and then reading it. After all, that's what the devices are made for. Continue your assault on .mobi and Amazon, because in the end, it puts words on the screen just fine.

I just read a cool and useful new feature on the upcoming Kindle 4. Apparently
it has a front facing camera. No, it's not used
for photos or video chat. The camera tracks the movement of your eye as you read.
When you eye has focused on the last word of the page(right bottom corner), the
new Kindle 4 will automatically go to the next page after a 1-second delay. This
means you no longer have to manually press a button to go to the next page.
(this feature can be turned on and off, but is shipped turned on by default)

Since my KSO 3G was purchased only 10 days ago, I'll probably return or exchange
it for the Kindle 4, based on this featuer alone.

Yeah.... not really buying that one so much.

I hear the K4 is shipping with cortical shunts that you can insert in your own medulla oblongata, though.

Oh no. Not the old cortical shunts in your medulla oblongata trick.

I was only kidding!

On the other hand, that technology is already being tested. It's not meant to
be a substitue for page up/down buttons, of course. The main purpose is to
track consumer interests by detecting where their eyes are focused on TVs
or internet browsers.
