Question about Kinde 3 case

Hi everyone,
I have one question about a cheap Kindle case. It may sound stupid, but anyways I wanted to be sure. The case I have is like this one: LINK

The closing thing has a magnet in it, and that is my question, can the magnet cause any damage to the kindle or not?
I had iphone case that had a magnet and after some time using it, the iphone stopped working and I was told that the magnet in the case caused a damage to the internal components of the iphone.
Thanks

I've got a very similar case/cover, and I've had no problem in over six months of use; and I've seen no mention of trouble on the forum. Besides, the magnet couples with a steel disc which ought to "short circuit" the magnetic flux.

My only question about those types of clasps is: can pressure against the clasp/magnet area damage the screen? It could be a pressure point but since there are quite a few cases like that if there had been problems I'm sure that they would have been reported.

I've ordered one of those sort of cases (only it has the flap at the left side, so that I don't have to go through the bother of keeping it away from the screen while open).

I intend to glue buttons to the four corners of the upper surface of the enclosure within which the kindle will sit, so that the left side doesn't come into contact with the kindle screen at all.

Not. A weak magnetic field such as the one in a catch like this isn't going to cause any damage to anything.

Speaking as a physicist, I have to say that this is vanishingly improbable. Did you get that in writing from Apple's service centre? If not, someone was pulling your leg.

Seeing as the ipad smart cover concists of lots of magnets.. tbh I think whoever you took your iphone to was a silly person, or you just got really unlucky. The effects would not be instant in my mind / experience, given the low magnetic fields from cases. A device wouldnt just stop working. Sadly(or gladly) I cant seem to find any of my neodymium magnets right now to test what would happen if one was near my kindle. I know they can cause some interferance since they are up there with most naturaly magnetic materials, and if a company used one for a protective cover then I can kinda see it messing up stuff but you woulda noticed it on iphone lcd screen instantly .I guess what I am saying is most of these case flaps use nothing more powerfull than a very thin fridge magnet with a bit of metal on the device side.. they are safe

edit: just thinking about it heh.. you could argue its electro magnetic / pulsating so wouldnt do much damage, every fan in your pc uses an electro magnetic field .. also any relatively modern hdd will have neodymium magnets in them hehe, I am not in any way saying magnetic damage doesnt hapen.. just not in the way you think, I guess

Thanks a lot to everyone, you have helped me a lot.
@HarryT
No, my I got my iPhone from T-Mobile in Europe and someone from their service center told me that the magnet was the problem, because the screen stopped working, but they replaced my iPhone right away and since than I am not using that case and everything is just fine.
Thanks guys, you are very helpful

I haven't had a problem with a similar case. I haven't read on any of the forums I visit of anyone having a problem with a similar case. I am not going to quit using my case.

When dealing with customer service, with any customer service, never give them a handy and easy hook on which to hang the problem, especially if it frees them from responsibility.

"My Kindle quit working. Could it be because I had bacon for breakfast."
"That's it. You got it. Do you work in technology somewhere?"
