It's been 4 days since I last bought an ebook...

My TBR pile's added:removed ratio is currently at 1:0.94, so I'm almost back to 1:1. I was hoping to manage 1:3 this year, but I'll be happy with anything over 1:1 by the year end, after my massive ebook buy in May.

Next year I'll aim for at least 1:2.

Hi. My name's ilovejedd and it's now been 1 1/2 months since I last bought an ebook. Needing to save funds for house down payment (ugh, with SoCal prices, we need at least $80k if we don't want to pay mortgage insurance or get a second mortgage) has greatly curbed my ebook spending. I find lack of discretionary funds to be a very effective "strategy" at reducing (or eliminating) ebook buying addiction.

However, my wish list has actually increased as I peruse what's available from the public library. Right now, I don't have any backlog of titles to be read (well, aside from some free classics). So far I've been finishing reading library books in one sitting so I go through 1~3 books per day depending on length and have been able to return library books much earlier than the 21-days max allotment.

I am addicted as well but not quite as bad as you guys. I only have about 60 eBooks bought so far. I have really only had my Kobo Since June 10th. I do have a huge list of books I want though

Of course, I was subscribed before, when it was available at Fictionwise. And it is a very good price - $0.99/month US, £0.99/month UK. Which is a lot cheaper for those in the US than the old Fictionwise subscriptions, and about the same for me.

But I must admit that I do still have a backlog of all of 2005 and half of 2006 to read...
Please NO! Say you didn't. Please cancel the subscription. We have to band together and let Amazon know they cannot have exclusive eBooks and get away with it. Do you really want things to go forwards or backwards. Forwards is not allowing Amazon exclusivity. Backwards is giving in and buying an exclude eBook. In this case it's a magazine that' screwing over many readers. Please think it over and cancel.

Thanks for the recommendation, Jon. I just subscribed to "The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction."

I just saw on Goodreads a member with 1598 books in his to-be-read list.

Ambitious.

This is an interesting question. I considered a similar question back when ebook DRM removal tools first became available whether or not to start buying DRMed ebooks.

I just don't see any such action having a significant effect. The number of people who pay attention to such things is just too small.

Perhaps I'm wrong. I've certainly wondered whether I did the right thing by starting to buy DRMed ebooks. But I don't think I'll be joining any such boycotts.

^Never underestimate the power a single raindrop when multiplied by millions.

Change can be done. The idea that you have no control isn't really productive in my opinion. We vote many many times each day. It's not that we need to get all of our votes right, but we should remember that our choices every day are our votes and they count more than that vote in the national election in your city, province/state, country.

Hello, my name is Tim. I've been told that confession is good for my soul. I now have 718 unread Amazon books on my Kindle. My last purchase was two days ago. I need help.
