Actually, imho, karma means nothing on this site any more. There are people here who post little more than, 'Just drank some nice Oolong tea' and have close to 100 million karma. I'm sure those people with massive karma totals are very proud of their cleverness, unfortunately, it's at the cost of destroying an otherwise useful forum utility.

I thought it was more like a 'thumbs-up' feature, without a 'thumbs-down' option.

So...maybe it's more like a AAA+ rating...which one can giveth, but not taketh away.

Never mind, I learnt what sockpuppet means..! Wish I could give karma to the entire thread now..

One other thing to mention as a reason to give karma: to thank the person who uploaded the book you just downloaded from MobileRead's library. It's a nice way to foster a friendly, contributive community, so if you don't I'll track you down and beat you senseless(*).

In my view, the solution to this problem is simple. All Karma should be posted in Roman Numerals. After about MCMXLVII nobody will have any idea how much Karma they have...
