Hi folks, I have read through part of this thread and others. I am just trying to get rid of the indent at the start of each paragraph. I created the epub file in OpenOffice and used the extension writer2epub which seems to work great. I do not have indents in my original document. I have made sure to enable document internal styles in the options/more menu. The indent seems to screw up poetry a little. Is there anything I can do? I can't figure out how to use a css sheet.

Coolreader Honeycomb troubles
Just a bit more info on the coolreader troubles i am having, i noticed that all trouble with it not overruling the screen shutdown, starts with a msg that says something like 'refresh failed'.
I have set screen turn off on 2 minutes now to make reading less of a anoying pain, taking your eyes off the screen for a few seconds and then having to push the on button and unlock the mainscreen gets tired after a few times ;-) Is there a debug option or somesuch to find out what is happening? And also where to go to get this kinda bugs noticed? Anyone? Last edited by Roos; 07-21-2011 at 04:33 AM. |

I can't seem to get footnotes to work I see the link but no matter what I do I cannot get it to send me to the actual footnote, any help?
I'm reading Terry Pratchett and Discworld just wouldn't be the same without footnotes. |

In waiting for my Android tablet I have downloaded the CR3 onto my desktop computer. I realized it can open DOC files but I wasnt success. Which version can open?
Anyway thank you for this very useful software. |

I have the same question as Joco1114, is there a specific version of CoolReader that is required for reading DOCs? I just downloaded the latest one from Sourceforge yesterday, and it doesn't even register that there are DOCs on the SD-card I direct it to. Am I doing something wrong or am I just using the wrong version of CR? (cr3-0-40-08)
By the way, I too had the problem where I downloaded and the file I ended up with was a zip. I kept downloading and downloading (getting zip files each time) until finally, for no reason I can figure, the file I got stayed apk. So I'm kind of wondering... if that happens and you end up with a zip file instead of an apk, which was what you were downloading, would it work at all to simply change the file type from .zip to .apk? |

An Android APK files is a ZIP file with very specific contents, just like an EPUB is a ZIP file with specific contents. |

Thank you Dave_S, I have - after endless downloading to get an actual .apk file out of it and not a .zip - finally gotten the version you mentioned and I will install it and try it out today. And no, those are definitely DOC files, but perhaps it will work with this newer version of CR instead.
As for my question regarding zip/apk, I was just wondering if for some reason when I try to download what is an .apk file what ends up on my computer becomes a .zip, it seems to me that there is something going wrong in the actual downloading (meaning something renames the file to the .zip format) and in that case shouldn't simply naming the file back to what it was originally work too? No matter really, I finally got the file to download as an apk, but it took a loooong time, and many, many downloads to do it. It would be convenient to know for the future though, if this happens again. |

As I mentioned before, I have a _desktop version_ only. Its version is 3.0.49-7. And it's not working with DOC extension. I've made tests and I am sure. Maybe it's working on an Android device well?

Well the newer version of CR worked like a charm for my DOC files, and I am ever so grateful. Two things though, small things that probably aren't very important to anyone else but to me is far more important than whether or not I have italics or bold in whatever document I'm reading:
Words getting smashed together. I tried several docs to check that it wasn't just a bad file I was looking at, but no, every one I tried suffered from the same, every other line or so a couple of words got smashed together that shouldn't be. Blankspace. I may be the only one that needs something that can accurately render the blankspaces in a document, but I have a hard time reading walloftext which is what happens when the blanks are removed. |

A few questions on CR:
* Is there a way to increase the margins? The options only go up to 30 which still leaves a very narrow margin. Is this configurable by a css sheet? * Can the percentage read be optionally changed to have the US standard of dot rather than comma separator? * What is the purpose of Chapter Marking? I have turned it on and off but it doesn't seem to affect the display in any way. |

Chapter marking puts little marks in the progress bar I believe. There is CSS support, where you can have your own CSS file by format.

The question about css support, is can you control margins with the CSS? I know you can use css, I just don't know what it can control (I'm no css person but will learn if that's what it takes). |
