USB Mouse

Hey guys, I was showing off my entourage PE at work yesterday when a coworker asked me to plug in my wireless usb mouse to it. I did it this morning and it worked!

Is there a way to turn on the mouse pointer? I can see it working by the focus moving from fields/links to the next fields/links.

I always figured that the mouse served as an external trackball/pad, as it will do the same exact thing if I plug it in. In addition, I've never heard of activating the mouse clicker, but if someone knows how to, I'd love to get it running.
Without a mouse word processing is much more difficult. Highlighting takes too long, so when I want to copy/paste it takes 3 times as long as if I used my laptop (so I only type on my edge if it the only available electronic device in proximity)
Thanks for the question Gary

The mouse clicker works! I'm able to click on things and it activates.
I have a MS wireless mobile mouse 3000.

My bluetooth Mobile keyboard 6000 also works (see bt keyboard thread on this forum).

Life is good... except my PE gets unresponsive sometimes and reboots. It's either because I'm running the lcd to e-ink app or the bt services. I haven't traced it down yet.

Also, most of the free apps I've downloaded on my edge does not install, which is a bummer, but all the IP camera software has worked so now I use the PE as a surveillance monitor. It works quite well for that purpose, and since I got tethering to work, I can view what's going on around the house almost anywhere.

Try to install an app and then run logcat: it will give you a reason while install failed. To run logcat you can use Terminal Emulator or adb.

Whoops, I meant "mouse pointer," the clicking portion I knew about considering a trackball/pad can click also.

But, yeah the bluetooth on the edge devices is much more usable as I first thought. When I first got here all the Bluetooth could be used for was wireless headsets, but Bluetooth keyboard capabilities are definitely a plus. In addition I can hook up wiimotes to the edge via Bluetooth in order to play games and to use them in the NES and GB emulators that work with the edges.

Using it as a surveillance monitor is a new one. I've read about using it for car diagnostics, reading sheet music and as a metronome, as a bed-side media player, and as a car's gps/media console, but surveillance monitor defiantly takes the cake.

Is it really working as a mouse? Or is it imitating the tabbing between input fields? (Kinda sounds like the latter.) So, I'm thinking internally it's being used more like a keyboard input than a mouse with an X/Y position.

Does anyone know when android added support for a mouse?

To tell you the truth: have no idea; logcat is an official Android tool and, from what I gathered, aLogcat is an app you install on you device. They probably produce the same result, as I understand aLogcat is a front-end for logcat. But I believe logcat has some advantages: you don't need to install anything, if you have multiple devices it's always tough to keep them synchronized.
But if you prefer alogcat, by all means. I mentioned logcat not because it's necessary, but just as a way to get an information.

But more important: you can force an app to be installed.
Will it run after that? - that's totally different question.

Basically when a mouse is connected it works like the the little trackpad on the lcd side. You won't see a pointer, you just see fields/links highlighted, but it seems easier to control with a mouse.

If you're using a keyboard connected via USB, it's like using the arrow buttons.
