The German Judge was not enamored, he had no choice. It is an injunction, not more than that, the game is not over.

There is the same discussion going on where it should have taken place actually, on the news subforum. Could we carry on there ?

Aceflor, I don't know the details, but one of the articles stated that the German court has a history of favoring patent holders over the sued parties. With the implication being that Apple was court-shopping. (I assume that's the source of the "less than enamored".)

I was surprised not to see it in the News forum and started that thread -- I'm happy to move there. I see this as "news", not "android". (It's just as much Apple as Android...)

Well, German courts are very careful so they will often issue an injunction to have the necessary quietness to do their research work.
I see this also as news, many similar threads that are here should in fact imho be in the news subforum, but apparently, our dear mods do not see it that way.

It would probably be seen by a bigger audience in the news forum. Then this forum could be reserved for technical discussions only, not business and general.

I agree with that, in some extent at least. However, what is annoying is that one can propose such ridiculous files for patents, "EU Community Design", or the like.
If I had some decision power on that, I would laugh at them (any of them, not just Apple).

So again, the problem should be avoided up stream, with, e.g. , more restrictions on what is patentable (or the-like), and what is not (such as those drawings).

There's a big difference, though, in my mind between Apple saying "look, we trademarked this, it's ours now, deal" and Apple representatives shooting their mouths off about Samsung Galaxy "blatantly copying" them and similar terms. The outrage engine from Apple is getting tiresome -- when was the last time Apple did something completely from scratch without any precedence whatsoever? Oh, that's right, never: because technology doesn't work that way. Well, that's my 2 cents, anyway.

Cue in ten seconds:

Poster1: Apple did X first.
Poster2: No, Y did that before Apple.
Poster1: Oh, Y, they suck, that didn't count, it was so primitive.

At least that's how it went on the OP article comments.

"The ban remains in place throughout Germany, but the slate can now be sold in all other parts of the European Union."

It has been partially lifted.
