I don't really see how that relates to what I said. I think a 16:9 ratio would be better. Perhaps they'd have sold even more with a superior ratio.

I can understand and sympathize with the ePub library patrons already dealing with unbelievable wait times and seeing the spectre of hundreds of thousands of Kindle users coming into the fold - I used to have a bunch of Sony Readers too - but it's not a very altruistic fear.

Those Kindle users have just as much right to access their tax-funded libraries as do the existing ePub users.

I find it amusing how some people have developed such a possessive attitude about library access. Entitlement much?

Buddy, I don't think anyone thinks Kindlers don't deserve library access. It's just likely to make wait times ridiculous for everyone.

Long term, the demand might help by getting libraries to buy more ebooks, but who knows with the economy tanking and budgets getting cut.

I honestly am still kinda torn about libraries devoting money to things like ebooks and dvds. Be really interesting to see how it all shakes out.

I don't care about new Kindlers coming into the fold -- longer wait times will be resolved by buying more licenses and having more patrons equals more money, generally. So yay for an expanded user base.

My biggest worry is that more publishers will jump on this ridiculous "expiring licenses" model which will seriously hurt libraries AND patrons.

No, you can't. You cannot get Kindle eBooks from the library using any Kindle app. Where did you get this incorrect information? Supposedly Kindle library eBooks won't happen until sometime in September but even then, that is a guess based on sketchy clues.
