It already gives you a prompt, though, to disable airplane mode if you attempt to sync, go to the store, or use the web browser while it's enabled. Tapping the airplane symbol to enter a network discovery mode might be nice for some people, I suppose, though personally I can't see the use of it since I'd only want the wi-fi to go to the store, sync, or do a spot of web browsing...

Auto-starting wifi when it's called for is fine. I just wish it was as convenient to disable again when you're done. One tap as opposed to three.

Although I just realized one thing about the way they do wi-fi should change: dump the concept of the unintuitive Airplane Mode and keep it simple with Wi-Fi On/Off.

This is good for you! However, less accomplished readers than you, might incur dissatisfaction adhering to your policy.
Reading Dean Koonz novels, with ONE heroine, ONE hero and ONE Villain, might satisfy those sceptics, who don't seem to need a SEARCHING function.
Decades long, serial novels might teach you a different story.

Odd, I read multiple books often with series that stretch over time and many books (check the number of books in the 1632 series for instance) and I find little use for searching functions. Do I really need a search function to tell me that in one book of the Flint/Drake Belisarius series a character is referred to as another character's daughter while in another book, she's referred to as a niece?

This insistence on being able to search/highlight/annotate/ghod alone knows what else reminds me of those clowns who step through videos one frame at a time searching for whatever turns their cranks instead of watching and enjoying the video in real time.

To wander more or less back on topic, one change I would like to see is the insistence of firmware 1.99 that after connecting to my computer, ejecting and letting the Kobo Touch do it's processing new content routine, that I want to see the last 5 books in my library by a title sort displayed on the home screen.

Minor correction, it's not the last 5 books -- last three books, skip 2, next two books.

As I add more books to my KT I am getting increasingly frustrated with not being able to see "finished" books marked somehow in my library. I would rather not shortlist every unread book because I am using the shortlist for partially read books.

I don't recall stating any policy, just making some feature requests.

Interesting assumptions about my reading. I actually don't know anything about Dean Koonz, nor do I have any need to comment on the styles of novels others read. To me, reading is about becoming immersed in the story. If I need to jump around and cross-reference all the time, then I've left the story. I prefer to forget that I'm reading a book at all. I picture every scene like it's a movie, but with so much more depth than a movie could ever have. I want to forget about the device I'm using completely, if possible. The more I need to tap and click to less immersed I am. Having some quick reference material in the status bar (like a clock) means I can glance at it almost sub-consciously, without taking my eyes off the book. It's not the end of the world to have to look at my watch, or tap the screen to get status. But this is a wish-list, right? I'm just stating things that would improve my experience.

My current reader (nook classic) has a clock. When I first saw it there, I thought it was silly. Now, when I read a paper book, I realize just how distracting having to look at the time can be. I really like the clock, and it would be great if it were an option that could be turned on. There's already a status bar with the clock--just make it an option to have it on always. That's all I'm asking for. It seems that would be trivial to implement, compared to complex searching and marking functions.

I would like to request:

1) working margin adjustments for sideloaded epub content

2) working hilight feature for sideloaded epub content

Both of these features are available and work 100% in Mobipocket Reader for the blackberry (free software, tiny application, but extremely feature rich), so I have to imagine it should be something realtively simple to implement.

It works, just Calibre decides it wants to override the page styles to have no margins (when you go converting to epub). The only way that I know of to allow resizing again is to edit the html chapters in the epub file. There is probably a tool to remove it, just I don't know of it).

Do you mind that I should remove the "specific" margins in css?

Seconding this!

Also - I'd love to be able to edit the format of the home screen. The 5 book display never sat well with me - I'd rather just have my library open as bookshelves that I can flip through with the most recent books at the front.

Here's a new one, maybe. I'd like at least rudimentary HTML5 capability on the built-in browser so I can access my Kindle books with Kindle Cloud Reader (https://read.amazon.com/).

I would like to see a search function - this Kindle feature is quite useful and I miss it on the Touch. But I think the priority should be fixing the Kobo Touch's erratic formatting - enough with the overhanging quotation marks and randomly intended lines already!

My list:

- Home screen showing a list

- Many people use ereader to learn foreign languages or technical books. Possibility to add dictionaries (in standart XML format or similar) it would be great.
In example: http://xdxf.sourceforge.net/

- Uploading books in folders and showing them in menu categories

- When touching one word, adding highlight, notes and bookmarks icons to the footer bar (now there is only the translate icon)

- Translation page in half page with scroll-bar.

- Adding Wifi-OFF to avoid the airplane flying all the day and saving CO2

- Browser in landscape mode

- Search function inside a book. This is very needed for all technical and learning books.

- Adding optional password to start the ebook (useful when travelling with scanned documents, etc)

I realize our native languages may be different, but I can't tell if this is a joke, or not.
