Im gonna throw out a guess here... that there are a lot more "round" karma since this thread started. I would guess that some people saw this thread and now having fun with you. But dont look at me, I can only give out 21 karma at a time, so not gonna be rounding many off! LOL |

Some forums have a "thank you" button and right under the forum post is a list of all the users who thanked the person for the post. I find this useful as the original poster might be interested enough to visit the profile of people thanking them and may connect with them. Not everyone goes in to look at who gave them karma. |

Yes, but when people started to having and giving ridiculous amounts of karma last year, it ended up making it even more meaningless than before. I've more or less stopped giving it - I can't see the point. A sort of "like" button would make more sense, then you can't give more than one "point" at a time.

I try to help people if I can. Not for karma, but because I can. After all, that's is supposed to be the goal of a forum, to help and inform each other right? I hardly look at my karma. I think it is funny, but I don't really put any value on it. When I have a question, it is not the karma which values the answer, it is the answer itself. After all, a lot of Karma does not mean that the one providing the answer is very knowledgeable. It could have been gathered in a totally other area of the forum. I treat all answers the same and award the ones that help on to go on further. |

Looked at who gave me karma and realised it was me going mad not loosing Karma, someone gave me Karma recently that upped it slightly making it a round number.

Wow. A lot of karma has been given out right here since this topic came up! So I suppose the answer to the question, "Why so many newbies with so much karma?" is actually: because of this thread.

Well, it does make a good conversation topic in a pub, and is good for bragging to opposite sex: "Hey, did you know I got xxxx amount karma in Mobileread forums?" And then just watch the dust cloud behind them.... |
