As a person with no mobile device (outside of an iTouch), I have no other devices using one of these connectors. I've got lots of USB cables for portable harddrives and cameras and at least four different device ends with one standard computer end. It's annoying having to carry around three different cables for transferring photos, charging my iTouch and charging my Kindle. Annoying. Annoying. Annoying.

2007 is also ancient from a technology standpoint. It'll be half a decade old. You know what else is half a decade old: Internet Explorer 7.

Okay, I think I've got my fill in.

So I am old enough to recall that being quiet, or at least making ones best attempt to be so, was the rule at a library. I know that times have changed and I have long since surrendered to, become accustomed to, people thinking it is perfectly alright to conduct cell phone conversations as they please in restaurants, coffee shops, stores, and other public places. But in libraries? Is it so unreasonable to consider a library as one of the last bastions where consideration of others and, dare I say it manners, should prevail.

Here's a clue. People sitting in a library reading room attempting to read and enjoy a book do not appreciate you plopping down in an adjacent chair, pulling out a cell phone, and starting an extended conversation in full voice with a high school girl friend about what a bitch your mutual acquaintance Tonya is. It's a library so STFU.

Our library has a big mobile free zone sign right in front of you as you walk in the door and one of the librarians is quite a big guy. I've never heard a phone ring or someone make a call in there but I've nearly had my legs taken out from under me by someone's little darling RUNNING around the shelves.

Have you considered piracy? You'd make a good Dread Pirate Roberts.

In library even at vibrating mode your cell can be heard easily!

Whenever I get a phone call in library I try my best to run quietly outside...

Rave: I have the smartest dog in the world A border collie named Jin. He is a service dog, meaning he helps mitigate my disability.

Rant: I did not choose to be disabled, Most of it is a the result of leading a very active outdoor life which I can no longer do.

With that in mind I would like ask you guys and gals to do all service dog teams a favor. You see a dog wearing a vest that says sewrvice dog on it leave the team alone. We are sometimes in a delicate state balance and the dogs need to concentrate. Talk to the handler first if you must but hands off the dog.

Confession and questions: Despite being a professional outdoors type I know more about computers than the average bear. My sister gave me her Kindle DX and after an evenings messing with it I've got Python loaded in, my own screensavers, Sun Tzu's Art of War, the Tao of Pooh and a few other books. What else can you do with a Kindle?

I get that fairly often, it must be the beard and bottle of rum I habitually carry. Well technically its gin but the jug is opaque so nobody knows.

But I will stick to Pirosophy, there's much less chance of being hung by the neck until dead by the cursed redcoats.
