The "Plus-Size" kitten is now 11 months old and weighs in at 10 pounds. She's twice as long as the 2 adult cats. And sheds constantly!

Stella is now longer and taller than Sammy (who is a bit of a barrel on 4 legs) - they weigh about the same now. I'm waiting to see if Stella has a final "end of kittenhood" growth spurt. We're hoping she has topped out in size.

Just came back from holiday.

First week: Germany + Alps: rain in the evening, maybe some sun in the morning, and only on the south side of the alps sun in the afternoon.
Second week: Hungary: one day rain, the rest between 25 and 30 degrees, but only during the morning clear skies.
Third week: home: rain, wind, cold, wet and rain.

It's the coldest and wettest july since the '60's I believe.... And not only here, but almost everywhere in Central Europe.

This morning before the heat began to climb, I went to the garage to cut a board for my wife. It was suppose to be cut 11¾" square , but I somehow ended up cutting it 11¾" x 11½". Yeah, I know, measure twice and cut once; but am MAN: I do not make mistakes.

Oh well, tomorrow is suppose to be about 10 degrees cooler. I'll cut her another one then.

The damn Dismal Swamp is on fire. That's bad news for me and David Niall Wilson. He lives on the North Carolina end of the swamp and my family lives on the Virginia side. I think our house is far enough from the tree line where we don't have to worry personally about the flames, but the smoke is horrible. We're under a Code Orange air alert, whatever that is. Guess we'll be keeping Norton indoors.
