Amazon's fluctuating book prices are annoying. What I could use is a buy target like for stocks. Once the book reaches $n, buy it. I've been stalking my wishlist and Vonnegut's "The Siren's of Titan" is down a penny today to $6.27. It was in the $5.25 range just two weeks ago. I'd place a buy at $4, but like I'd know when that happens.
I also noticed that "The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland..." by Valente is down about $0.30 today as well. Almost tempted to buy. |

I think the theory about mosquitoes by Dutch comedian Bert Visscher is right: when you kill them they reincarnate immediately. I also have to agree with his observation that we should be glad they reincarnate instantly as a mosquito and not as an elephant.

I used to hardly get bit but the last couple of years it's changed. Mosquitoes usually go for either my hands or the top of my feet, usually those places itch more than when I'm bitten in my arm or leg. Luckily this year the bites hardly itch, but it takes a long time for the red bump to go away.

grrrrr I just screwed up making 2 cloaks in a row. I'm learing to really hate polyester.
Have enough left to try and make a riding hood. Let's see if that's an epic fail too. |

I've found that tea tree oil works great on itchy insect bites. I've also found that tto keeps them away, at home I usually put a couple of drops on a cotton pad and put it on my nightstand during mosquito season.

I might have to try that, I'm waking up with one or two new bites each morning.

Do you have an Avon lady?
Some people swear by this body oil for preventing and soothing certain insect bites. It is not sold for that purpose, but it works on little things we have here called midgees. I think it is sold as bath oil, but you can smooth it on your skin. ![]() I know this sounds stoopid, but in desperation, I have used Gin. It was pretty good too. ![]() Last edited by SneakySnake; 08-07-2011 at 02:29 AM. |

My mom used to use SSS for mosquito bites. It works ok for soothing them but not so good for repellant, at least not on me. I'm using Benadryl cream for the itch - it's the preventing more bites that's got me worried, especially with West Nile around these days.
