actually, just get a sleeve for traveling... I don't even do that and just put my Kindle in a moleskine when I carry it around... maybe a sleeve is better for the bigger screen though

I love a naked ereader. I enjoy the lack of weight and heft.
Now, I would be interested in a cover if it could protect my ereader from 300 lbs man weight, lol. |

I found a case with a simple picture-frame style stand to be an all-around upgrade to my Nook Color. What little weight it adds is offset by the fact that, between the flip-cover and the easel, I'm almost never supporting the weight with my hands or wrists. Even if I am holding it up, the easel provides a lot of better ways to grip the thing. Most of the time I'm not sitting at a desk or table, either, but just finding a stable place for the NC in my lap or on my chest. Shock/smudge/scratch protection is just a bonus.

JSWolf, what on earth are you doing with your ereader that you think they are likely to smash into a thousand pieces with standard use? Are you treating yours like a frisbee or something?

i'm over the idea of using it out of its case. thought it was cool for awhile, but i prefer to read in public a lot, and as jswolf has said elsewhere, the device is easier to hold inside the case.
one problem with the sleeve is what the heck do you do with it when it's not in use? it's just extra and out there, hanging around; clutter, essentially. i have heard of cases that include a space for the power cord. that is useful, but maybe not a have to have thing. a paperback is still lighter than the dx sans cover. *sigh* Last edited by Ditchleyportrait; 08-04-2011 at 03:21 PM. |

All it takes is a simple drop on say a wood or tiled floor to break the screen.

I've been using a sleeve since I got my first Kobo in April 2010. I now have the Kobo Touch and love reading it naked. Haven't dropped any of my Kobos once (or any other electronic device I own). If I suddenly find myself dropping things randomly, I'll reconsider. Until then I'll keep enjoying my Kobo's quilted back when it's out of its sleeve.
