It's unfair of Amazon to offer superior support for their product.

Agreed. I do understand the frustration, but 'let's hope Kindle users can only borrow epub'? Wouldn't it be more logical to hope that other devices will also be able to borrow other formats? (Which they actually can to some extent)
I hope that the other companies will let their devices do what the Kindle can do with Overdrive, whatever that may be, since we don't really know what it is yet. |

You have totally missed the point. Please go back and reread and see if you can manage to get what's actually said.

It would be better overall. The libraries would stop purchasing copies in PDF. So say the library bought 2 PDF and 2 ePub. If they instead bought 4 ePub, that would be better.

Libraries won't be purchasing AZW as the Kindle users borrows the ePub and Amazon fills the order. |

I'd like to know where everyone is getting all this "This is the way it's going to work" information. As far as I know, we really don't know much at all about how it's actually going to work.

Unless libraries have to buy copies for the Kindle (which we know they won't), there really is only one way things can work. You borrow from the library and Amazon fills the order and sends it on to your Kindle or Kindle app.

We can speculate till the cows come home, have dinner, watch TV, go to bed, and get up the next day, and we still won't be any closer to knowing for certain how things are going to work.

I won't say this often...but Jon is right. :-). There is no other way for this to work given that OD and Kindle have confirmed that the library won't have to buy additional e-books or separate Kindle-format books.
