Maybe, the Mirasol screen technology has been out for over a year. Its about time someone put it to use! One can only hope!

Here is an interesting link: http://besttabletreview.com/qualcomm...ket-this-fall/

I don't know if August counts as "Fall"

Wow, I actually really like the colours. The slow page turns on that demo would drive me mad I must admit. But it will be interesting to see costs when they start to appear. Thanks for the link.

Flip,
The slow page turns are only the animation that they used on the demo. It can actually do almost full motion video (15-20) screens/pages per second without the blanking page in between. It would probably be similar to flipping pages on your Sony without the refresh at the end.

Um, bad news for you. "This Fall" referred to in the article is not this month or even this year. The date on that article was Feb 15th, 2010.

The fact their plan didn't happen last year does give hope that maybe it could this year but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Well they said Fall, they just did not specify which one!

My thinking is that Sony will be going Pearl. But maybe Sony will surprise us and will have the 300DPI eink.

Wait, the PRS-650 is already a Pearl display.

I would love to see a higher DPI screen. If e-Ink can do the Retina-Esque 300dpi, that would truly be amazing, and I'd gladly pay the premium for that.

All the x50s are Pearl version Vizplex screens so better to hope that they don't use a lesser screen...

I just wish Sony came out with details and dates. These are known, so why keep them secret?

Why would they use a lesser screen? That makes no sense, especially when there are much cheaper Readers using the same Pearl display.

I was responding to JSWolf's comments about the new Sony, "My thinking is that Sony will be going Pearl." hence my comment about it being unlikely they'd go to a lesser screen when they already use Pearl... I was essentially saying the same as you but you simply posted a minute before me whilst I was still writing!!!

Aha, many thanks. Hopefully it (or something like it) will appear before too long. Tech for reading/watching in colour that doesn't use back lit screens can only be a good thing for those of us with middle aged eyes...!
