Aristophanes: Lysistrata, v.1, 9 April 2008.
An illustrated play. The illustrations are by Norman Lindsay and the introduction and translation is by Jack Lindsay.
First performed in 411 BCE, this is a comedy. Lysistrata, an Athenian woman, is fed up with the Peloponnesian war. So she summons a council of women from all the Greek states and persuades them to go on a sex strike until peace is agreed. Found on PG. The file is big because of the pictures. |
