Collins Bookstores have recently announced that they are going to be the Australian Distributor I would imagine that due to that agreement there will be no other supplier that will ship it to australia without a 3 party forwarder involved. Perhaps you can drop Collins an email to see how long it will be before they start selling it.

Also, Borders US were happy to ship to Australia while A&R and Borders AU were still operating.

To cheer others who are waiting a long time for their Kobo Touch to arrive from borders.com, mine was shipped (possibly by tortoise) on 11 July US/12 July Oz, and arrived today. It came via Frankfurt which I would have thought was not the most direct route.

I had pretty well given it up for lost, and was told by a helpful Customer Care person that after 30 business days it would be considered lost and Borders would refund me.

I'm about to start loading books onto it. So far it is everything that the Kobo site promises and I'm delighted with it.

Really good news. I personally hated not having a tracking number. Made the waiting feel longer not being able to see updates of where it was.

Has anyone been able to order one in August from borders.com to deliver to an Australian address?

You have a Nook and KindleDX? Why didn't you wait for the next Kindle that is rumoured just around the corner?

I'm so frustrated! I ordered last Sunday on borders and it said I entered the details incorrectly at the last stage (does anyone here get that as well?) yet they took money from my debit card and the order didn't go through. I contacted borders and they said it's a preauthorisation amount and will drop off 3-5 business days. It's been 5 already!! My dad let me use his credit card today yet the same error occurred. They probably took 'pre-authorisation amount' from there too and the order still didn't go through!
How do you place the order?
Nakaleen: about cancellation, did the order go through and then they cancelled it days later?

IxiaAurea, that error you're experiencing is the same one I (and others here in Europe) have encountered. The preauthorizations stayed longer than I expected, but it did go away in about a week.
I ended up getting one from an eBay seller that shipped internationally instead. More expensive, but really fast shipping.

I put in an enquiry on the Collins website and have just received this reply:

"You are correct in that we will be selling Kobo products including the Touch model. We are just in the final stages of negotiations and planning with Kobo. There have been some delays however and we are still talking with Kobo over pricing and other agreements. This will mean that the launch will now happen sometime in the middle of October. And I do not have pricing figures availale to release just yet.

I have placed you on our Kobo enquiry list, meaning that when new (and more specific) information becomes available to us we’ll pass this on to you."

Sounds as if it's going to cost more, doesn't it? I'm okay as I got mine from Borders in the US (when the exchange rate was better our way) but now my husband wants one too.

I have twice attempted to buy a KT now and both attempts have come to naught.

Going to have to wait to see how it all pans out or end up simply buying a Sony PRS-T1.

It is disappointing.
