My first dedicated eReader too. I've had no issues transferring from Calibre directly (via the app, not drag n' dropping in file explorer) to the KT for a handful of books (including both ePub's and PDF's). Using Calibre version 0.8.1.0 and lastest KT firmware if that matters?

Been my observation that a lot of these sideload issues for eReaders (not just Kobo's) seem to occur more for people who dump masses of files in one go onto the device.

Portablejim, here's another one for your table - I received my notification that my kobo Touch was on its way on 21st July, going to northern NSW.

Not for me - I only have 60 books and have had problems dropping single books to the device.

"Kobo has now made a new partnership in Australia — with locally owned bookseller Collins. This move, claims Kobo, will also extend its reach into less densely populated areas, where Borders and Angus and Robertson stores hadn't been established. From some time in September, customers will be able to buy Kobo e-readers from Collins bookstores, as well as ebooks from the Collins online store."

I am thinking or ordering a Kobo Touch from borders.com tomorrow. I have been through the pains of freight forwarding before (and don't want to do it again). Looking at the site they (clam) that the online store it still open (much like ezydvd.com.au when they closed all their brick and mortar stores).

Has anyone been able to order a Kobo Touch AFTER Borders announced their closing?

I wasn't even able to order one prior to the announcement! All seemed fine, but then there was an error message at the very end, after credit card verification. Others have reported the same. I don't know if the geographical region matters, but the ones I have heard haveing problems are European.
I bought mine from an eBay seller offering international shipping. Pricey, but I got it fast!

I ordered a blue one from Borders.com yesterday, so hopefully it'll come through in the next couple of weeks. My card's a Visa Debit issued in Australia, so they may have lifted some of the restrictions now.

Really? Drag 'n dropping or using Calibre to do the transfer?

Curious if your setup is different - o/s (win/mac/linux), firmware, calibre version etc.. Have about 15 books now, and still no issues, wife likewise has a handful of books (not all same) on hers with no issues.

Yep, still having problems this morning with calibre. Windows 7 Home Premium, calibre 8.11 - I have to delete the two .calibre files in the root directory, eject the touch, plug it in again then copy the books across (a single book this time). If I don't do this, I can't access the books on my KT - even though they show using Windows explorer. It's a pain but I don't think I'm the only one. I've used calibre extensively with my kobo original and never had a problem.

Odd.

Fairly similar setup here (Win 7 x64), though still on Calibre 8.10. I load Calibre, connect Kobo, select book, select send to device, wait, select eject, unplug, processing new content message on Kobo and then the new books are there. I haven't even tried the other sideloading methods (File Exp/ADE etc..).

Sounds like this could be a real doozy of a bug for Kobo or Calibre.
