Wireless, eh?

Ya know, Sony was the first to partner with Google Books.

Anyone willing to bet the new Sony(s) will integrate with Google Books the same way the new iRiver Story does?

Now THAT would make me chuck my beloved 505 in a heartbeat.

hmmm and i think the iRiver articles said it was the first reader to do so, implying there were more coming. plus since pottermore is attached to google books and sony is attached to pottermore....

khalleron and Dulin's Books,

I'm not sure if this is what you mean when you refer to Sony 'partnering' with Google Books, but when I access the Sony Reader Store via wifi on my 950, I find a section on the front page labeled 'Google Books'. Upon selecting this, I am taken to an area with the choices 'Subjects' and 'Authors'. Below that is a section labeled 'Featured Books'. It is possible to download Google books directly to the reader. The only books available to download from Google appear to be free, however, not ebooks that cost money.

I am doubtful that this qualifies as 'partnering' in the same way the iRiver manufacturer's involvement does, as that probably allows download of non-gratis ebooks, but I just thought I'd mention it. It seems that Sony's new arrangement will also allow downloading/purchasing of non-free ebooks from Google, and of course ebooks from Pottermore.

Although I personally don't consider wifi to be especially important on an ereader, I am glad that Sony seems to be responding to consumer demand for certain features, as this may enable them to stay relevant in the ereader market.

I don't care about WiFi but I know a lot of people do, I would like an SD slot although I'm not sure why, maybe because I got used to it with my first reader.

If it has a useful browser then wi fi is a pretty important addition.

Pfft, I thought everyone knew this: the next Sony will come with a 3D display so they can leapfrog the competition.

The new Sony besides having wifi will also have a micro SD slot and a headphone jack.

We'll know the rest of the info in the next 45 days- as that the length of time they have requested for confidentiality, starting from July 20th
Which means confidentiality until the beginning of September for an announcement in September for a release in October.

I see eReaders daily in the wild. Mainly Kindles, but a number of Nook and Sony readers.

And a number of people reading on iPads.

To just jump in a thread a totally derail it by going 100% off-topic and not the usual topic drift is not all that polite. I'm sorry you feel I came off not polite. But we do need to let people know that hijacking a topic is not the thing to do.

And to get back on topic, does anyone know what screen size the T1 is?

I feel you about thread derailers - but you do it all the time. Why get an attitude with someone else?
