![]() In worn out shoes With silver hair, a ragged shirt, and baggy pants The old soft shoe He jumped so high, jumped so high Then he lightly touched down I met him in a cell in New Orleans I was down and out He looked to me to be the eyes of age as he spoke right out He talked of life, talked of life, he laughed clicked his heels and stepped He said his name "Bojangles" and he danced a lick across the cell He grabbed his pants and spread his stance, Oh he jumped so high and then he clicked his heels He let go a laugh, let go a laugh and shook back his clothes all around Mr. Bojangles, Mr. Bojangles Mr. Bojangles, dance ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAkhyks0uRs ) Good morning, everyone! It's a musical morning today, and I can't get this song out of my head! Today starts with a mug of East India Company's 'Royal Breakfast' tea and a plate of home made croissants, then it will be straight to my guitar and see if I remember the picking pattern to play the tune. It used to be one of my favorites! We're going exploring today... I found an old mountain road on my map that is only open to motorcycles on weekdays. It leads to one of Kyoto's most ancient temple and shrine complexes overlooking the city, and should make for some beautiful sights! The sun seems to be cooperating by not shining too awfully hard. That should keep things a bit cooler! Live to ride! Ride to live! But drink tea instead of beer or Jack Daniels (which is why they won't let me into the Hell's Angles.) Stitchawl |

Iced apple tea. This is the apple flavor I bought from Adagio that had NO apple taste at all. Still doesn't, even iced, but at least iced I can tolerate it, which I couldn't when it was made for hot tea.
*le sigh* Still can't handle a steady intake of diet Dr Pepper like I used to be able to. Or any other soda for that matter, really, or at least not one that has caffeine. And tea, well, see my previous post in this thread for the problem with switching to a steady tea intake. On the bright side, my body is probably happier with me due to the varied nature of liquid I'm putting into it rather than the "same thing all the time" routine I had going before. |

Wow! A pitcher of iced tea really hits the spot after a long ride. Plain ol' Lipton's Instant Ice Tea powder, but as a cold drink, it really works!
We found the road to Mt. Hiei that we planned for this morning, and what a ride it was! We covered about 150k, and 2/3rds of that was winding mountain road to the north-east of Kyoto city. The mountain is one of the most sacred sites in Japanese Buddhism, as it was the location of the temple of Enryaku-ji, the first Japanese outpost of Tendai sect of Buddhism, founded atop Mt. Hiei by Saichō in 788. Both Nichiren and Honen studied at the temple before leaving to start their own sects of Buddhism. The temple complex was burned down by Oda Nobunaga in 1571 to quell the rising power of the Tendai's warrior monks (sōhei), but it was rebuilt and remains the Tendai headquarters to this day. They have temples and shrines all over the mountain, with spectacular vistas at every bend of the winding road; Kyoto city on one side, and Lake Biwako on the other. I can't wait to go back in the fall with a camera and do some serious photography up there. Today was just too hot and overcast for anything other than some snaps with my phone. Time for a third mug of Ice tea.... Stitchawl |
