Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles 8-Book Bundle

Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles 8-Book Bundle: The Surgeon, The Apprentice, The Sinner, Body Double, Vanish, The Mephisto Club, The Keepsake, Ice Cold ($49.99) has eight books in the single volume. It isn't really a huge bargain, but is a savings over paying $7.99 each. The latest title in the series, The Silent Girl, released this month at the $12.99 mark. The first in the series, The Surgeon, was one if the first free books I picked up in the Kindle store (Sep '08) and is a great read, leading me to snap up the other titles that I have in this series (although I don't have the entire series).

Book Description
New York Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen has thrilled countless readers with her acclaimed novels of suspense featuring Boston detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles—and TNT struck ratings gold with the Rizzoli & Isles series based on Gerritsen’s novels. Now here’s a convenient e-book bundle of the first eight installments of this compelling series: The Surgeon, The Apprentice, The Sinner, Body Double, Vanish, The Mephisto Club, The Keepsake, and Ice Cold.

Includes an exclusive script excerpt from the TNT series and a special preview of Tess Gerritsen’s new Rizzoli & Isles novel, The Silent Girl, on sale July 5, 2011.

All for $49.99 as well. Also, it's not really a bundle. It's an omnibus.

I'm not sure what the real difference is, in publisher's minds, as they call pretty much all their "omnibus" editions "bundles" now. Sure, technically a bundle would be each on it's own, sold under a single item (which a very few booksellers did for a while and Baen still does), but "bundle" is what the publishers now call pretty much all their multi-title collections sold as a single volume.

Are you sure it's one file? I've bought bundles from Sony before (and only looked at the Sony link here) and it's usually "bundle" for individual files and some other description when it's all in one file. At least that has been my limited experience.

This one should be a single file (I've never seen otherwise at Amazon). Sony has 'bundles' that they put together themselves, where one purchase gets you multiple, individual titles. But, this is a single volume from the publisher (and, for me, still a bit overpriced - I have wonder just what they are thinking, since you barely save the cost of one title, which means you have to have none of them to even consider the bundle).

At $15, I'd consider it even if I was only missing two (and definitely grab it if missing three or more).

A bundle is when you buy the books as separate books. I've bought a couple of bundles from Sony and they came as separate eBooks. This one is one eBook so it is an omnibus and as far as Goodreads is concerned, it's one book.

It is an omnibus.

However, the title of the omnibus is "Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli & Isles 8-Book Bundle: The Surgeon, The Apprentice, The Sinner, Body Double, Vanish, The Mephisto Club, The Keepsake, Ice Cold"

That wasn't me calling it a bundle and just listing the titles included. I have many others, all "bundles" by title.

The definition of omnibus fits what this is perfectly. The publishers have it all wrong. It's not a bundle and should not be called so. It's an omnibus and should be called so.

So why is it the publishers are being stupid yet again?

Probably for the very same reason that some readers/posters are anal-retentive and overly argumentative—they just can't help themselves.

Them what's sellin' it, can call it whatever amuses them.

Why do you feel it's a problem when the publisher is picked up for mislabeling the title of a book?
