				WSOG Again!

My second Pocket Edge has been working perfectly since I received it as a replacement from Woot for an earlier one that succumbed to "WSOD after 3 days. I opened the unit up this morning and tapped the menu key. The unit announced that it was coming out of hibernation (E-ink side) Usually, the LCD side will come alive and reboot into the start-up screen. This time, for 3 heart stopping seconds, the WSOD appeared. Then, fortunately, the screen went blank and it booted up. What's going on here? Is this a hidden software/firmware defect? I've done nothing strange with the unit. It's running Ermine 2.2. It's been rooted, and I've renamed the power draining phone apps. I hope this doesn't become a new adventure every time I take the unit out of hibernation. Last edited by syclone; 07-28-2011 at 08:24 AM. Reason: Correct WSOG to WSOD |

Not sure what your problem is but you could do what most of us with the EE have to do, which is to switch off rather than hibernate. For some reason if the EE goes into hibernation it doesn't wake up and we have to pull the battery to get it stated again.

Thank you ivanjt. Unless someone has a better idea, I may have to do that. Taking the battery out of the PE is not a trivial task.

I think the problem causing the temporary white screens is more hardware still, it might be that the signals going to the LCD are getting jumbled up on first try, which is why you have to try again sometimes...

Like ptsenter, my PE does this from time to time as well (I have owned it for 3 months). Nothing to panic about. The first time I had it happen I used the power switch (long slide and hold) to power off the PE. I have also used this a couple of times for frozen Apps.
