Are you using a computer or a mobile device? A couple of days ago I helped someone set up an account and kept getting that message on their android phone. I changed to using my laptop to register and did the verification through email with no trouble.

I am using a computer and logged in as administrator of the author's page.

If I log in as myself, I can get a simple url for myself without giving them my cell phone number. But I don't want a simple url for myself, I'd like to get one for Nicky Charles' author page.

All I know is I have one such page:

and FB does not have now, nor has ever had my mobile number.

Also my personal Facebook page is named, so I have done it twice. I do not recall them even asking for a number, maybe its new.

Well that sucks! Hope you figure out a way to work it out. All my pages have the simple urls and FB doesn't have my number either but it's been several months since I got the last one.
