Tor Books
Has anyone successfully converted the free Tor E-books (PDF/HTML) to BBeB format or LRF?
I tried a couple times, but think I may have just broke them more. By the way, hi everybody!! I just bought my Sony Reader PRS-505 (Blue!) at Border's about 3 weeks ago and have really taken a liking to it. I'm about to finish my first eBook tonight or the following night. |

Hello jaxx6166
All I did is open them with Foxit Reader Pro then save as a txt file, then loaded that onto my 505. I'm happy |

You'll do best with downloading the lit file and converting it with libprs500!

The Mobipocket editions have no ToC. So the Conversion won't either. But, if you don't mind installing Python 2.5 or later then you can run Obelisk on the Mistborn Diff file and have a pretty good copy. There are still some errors in the conversion that I am fixing as I read. But it's mostly correct up to part four. all you need is the original PDF to be able to make the LRF. It's towards the end of the thread/
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20367 Also if you have Book Designer or Libprs500 you can gett he HTML for the others and use Book Designer or add in a ToC to the HTML and use html2lrf to convert. |

Do you use the TOC a lot in a fiction book? I guess I only tend to use them for anthologies with multiple stories so for the most part TOC's aren't a big deal.

I have been using the HTML version and just using Libprs500 to do the conversion to LRF. My results have been very satisfactory.
... but what? Librps500 converts mobi files? I gotta check that out! |

OK, I just checked it out. Libprs500 does a great job with mobi files.
Sweet! |

I use TOC a lot in fiction books but only a static TOC not a linked one. I don't need a linked TOC in LRF files.

Converting the TOR books in prc format with libprs500 always fails for me too. Converting the HTML files works.

So, if I use the HTML or MOBI format, I should get a near perfect transition? I'd been having trouble with the PDF conversion.
How much have you had to go in and personally clean up after these transitions? |

The latest release from Tor; Sun of Suns: Book 1 (by Karl Schroeder) has a TOC in the mobipocket format which seems to convert fine with default settings in libprs500.

I'm sort of low tech, but I downloaded them in html, then saved as text. Uploaded them to my Fictionwise personal content server, then downloaded them to my reader the next time I visited my online bookshelf. Very simple.
