I'm afraid that Scruby's will have to remain only a memory for me. It's doubtful that I'll ever return to Ft. Lauderdale... My mother's condo is just about sold, so there is little reason to return to Florida. No more Scruby's, no more losing my car in the parking lot of Sawgrass Mills Mall, no more miles and miles of strip malls... Oh well... I guess I'll have to go to Bali instead.

I dunno... I think Bali for Scruby's and stripmalls is a really good trade! Let me think ...... .. Yep! Good trade!

I am drinking a pot of Rooibos Ginger. Good stuff.
To be honest, my purpose is not for any antioxidant properties (though thank-you for that info. I did not realise other ingredients might "block" any antioxidant action). I mostly bought it for TL1 who has been craving snacks of an afternoon, snacks which often end up being a latte. I suggested black tea might be better (for caffeine, fat and calories and killing the cravings), but then remembered mention here of rooibos and wondered what it was. Seeing that it had less tannins and less caffeine I thought he might like it (he likes his tea black).

It turns out he did. He likes that it seemed naturally sweet, the lack of tannin-y flavour, and wants more. I just bought this pack from the supermarket (brand: Nerada), but we've a significant South African population in this town to the point of having a small, South African grocery store, so I should be able to find in a few places some variety to satisfy his foodie urges for taste testing too.

Me, I need that tiny splash of skim milk and half a sugar, but much less so than I would with your normal Liptons.

But that's for afternoons. Right now I have in my cup what's for me the best possible drink: my first coffee of the day (latte, freshly home-ground blend of beans from local roaster).

Cheers,
Marc

 It's true that all the men you knew were dealers
who said they were through with dealing
Every time you gave them shelter
I know that kind of man
It's hard to hold the hand of anyone
who is reaching for the sky just to surrender
who is reaching for the sky just to surrender.

And then sweeping up the jokers that he left behind
you find he did not leave you very much not even laughter
Like any dealer he was watching for the card that is so high and wild
he'll never need to deal another
He was just some Joseph looking for a manger
He was just some Joseph looking for a manger.

Strange night last night... difficult to wake up this morning. Big mug of Keemun (or two) should do it. We're off for a long ride today, heading into the mountains to the south-east, through the town of Iga, famous for it's Nina families! I hope we make it through!

2 weeks of waking up at 5:30 has its result: I went to sleep at 2am and woke up at 7 this morning, and feeling so sober and hungry just 5 hours a night is not a familiar figure to me!

Ah... it was a WONDERFUL ride! My wife did the route planing and we followed 95% roads that we'd never been on before. Most were either along side of rivers running through mountain valleys, or else higher up going over the mountains themselves. Absolutely beautiful. Sorry, but we didn't stop for pictures. The weather cooperated nicely by remaining overcast all day, thereby reducing some of this awful heat. And because these were all rural roads with virtually no traffic, we could enjoy a nice breeze as we rode. (Our riding jackets are of a mesh material so the wind passes through.)

We stopped for lunch at a small restaurant next to a large tea plantation, and ate while admiring the views over the mountainside. The green tea they served us was grown just a few meters from where we were sitting... My wife loved it, but to me it was just 'green.' I'm happy to be home again now and drinking a mug of China Black!

I agree wholeheartedly. After visiting Bali my postcard back home said "Heaven on Earth".

A Javamate Latte. I am experimenting with different Yerba Matte blends for morning lattes. A good way to get in some calcium and other goodies. I figure I drink enough tea without mil throughout the day that I don't need to worry about antioxidant blockage in the morning.
