The Typhoon has finally moved out to sea, but it didn't want to take all its rain with it. It's been raining here steadily for days now. The only difference is the wind! At least the temperature is not too bad. 26.4c (78F) Just another day in my rain suit...

On TV, they just reported flooding in ALASKA due to the ice melting too quickly and overfilling a river. It is officially hot when Alaska melts.

When I moved to Tokyo, I used to wonder why they put these little trickle of a river at the bottom of a huge concrete bed. I understood why when the first typhoon came, in a matter of hours the bed was filled with rushing water!

There is a HUGE river bed between my house and metro Kyoto. Perhaps a full kilometer across. But usually the actually 'river' is no more than a hundred meters across... until the rains come. Then the whole thing fills from bank to bank, looking like a kayaking course! A day later it's back to being a gentle little stream.
