Package up that rain, and send it to the gang in our southern states here. They'll love you forever for it!

Well I just had perhaps the most disturbing experience in my life. I was in a Carls Jr with my mom. In a booth on the other side of the aisle from ours sat a middle-age man and woman. First, when my mother went to fill her soda, the woman said something to the effect of "look, a husband and wife". So I corrected her. Then a moment later she offered me some coupons. At first I declined, but she relented so I took them and said thank you. Then when my mother came back the woman suggested that we come sit with them. I explained that we couldn't . So instead they decided to get up and sit next to us! At this point she asks for our names. We tell them. She promptly gets them wrong (calling me "Darryl"). She introduces the man she is with, who looks around the same age if not older, as her son. Then she suggested that we should say grace. So we did... not wanting to upset these lunatics. She asks if either of us is dating. My mother brings up her boyfriend. She asks if they've been intimate. Then she says, "he's not black, is he?"

So... Yeah. Needless to say we tried to get out of there ASAP. Based on the woman's complextion she was almost certainly a drug addict.

What a bizarre encounter. Who asks a stranger if they've had sex with their S.O.? And then that racial comment. That was extremely strange.

I'll bet at first you thought they were going to lay an Amway pitch on you or something. Jeeze...a MLM sales pitch would have been preferable to that Twilight Zone episode.

It started raining on my way to class yesterday. I minute later, I saw two motorcycles in the lane next to me. I kept thinking that I wish they would pull over and get out of the rain. As we're going along, I realise it's about 8 of them, one has a girl on the back and it's raining harder, and they're passing me!!! I was like, "What the f.... ?" I don't care where they were going, they only have two wheels, no helmets and surrounded by more idiot FL drivers. So, I sped up a little, put on my blinker, made sure that there was a safe distance, and moved in front of them to the right. I slowed down to 35 mph and hoped that they would stay in the lane and stay at a slower pace. Nope! Idiots decided that I wasn't going fast enough and passed me. Thankfully, my turn was coming up because I didn't want to be anywhere near those guys. Rain, going faster than me, no helmets... Nope. I don't want to be anywhere near them.

you have to understand, you are in a "cage" your reality, wants, needs and fears do not apply to those who ride

You sound like my mother...
Rain generally isn't a problem for motorcycles. We use different tires than cars use. It's actually much easier to skid on wet surfaces in a car than on a motorcycle. They were probably more worried about you! I ride almost every day of the year here in Japan, missing only a day or two if it snows. And it rains here a lot. I NEVER ride without having my rain suit in my saddle bags.

The rubber used to make motorcycle tires is more 'sticky' than the material used for car tires. And the tread of a motorcycle tire isn't for traction as it is on a car. It's to channel the water out from under the tires to keep from hydroplaneing. As long as the bike tire tread is OK, there is little danger of skidding in the rain. In fact, in 40+ years of motorcycle touring, I can't remember EVER skidding on wet surfaces (except for the painted white lines in Japan! I think they mix their paint with KY Jelly! When they get wet, it's a wild ride!)

Just give the bikers room. They will be OK. Honest.

Rain was a problem for me and countless others on a motorcycle on the Bli Bli bridge.

It used to have cane train tracks across it. Unfortunately they were not quite across or with the road, causing motorbikes to slip as they couldn't miss the tracks completely, nor take them at a decent angle. Most disconcerting to have the arse end of your bike slip on those!

Haven't been up there for years I think they must have been fixed years ago or loads of motorcyclists would have slipped off into traffic by now.
