Istanbul, Constantinople, Byzantium
Haha. Take that. Okay it's the same city. This may help someone: Countries that are on two continents, borderwise: ------------------------------------------------ Azerbaijan (Asia and Europe) Egypt (Asia and Africa) Kazakhstan - "Central Asia, northwest of China; a small portion west of the Ural River in eastern-most Europe" (SOURCE: CIA World Factbook, Russian Republic (Asia and Europe) Turkey (Asia and Europe) So Istanbul in Turkey, what else do we have... I do agree that searches for cities on two continents tend to say Istanbul is the only one. |

Actually, there are several more...
Cites located along the Suez Canal are said to be, as is Panama City. It's on both sides of the Panama Canal, which is the dividing line between North (or Central) and South America. Stitchawl |

Stitchawl, I don't know if you're right with Panama-City. It is the border between to oceans but not between two continents. Panama as a whole is generally counted as a state of Central America (and the dividing line the border to Colombia).

See below...
(But we can also consider 'trans-continental' three ways; political boundaries, geographical boundaries, and tectonic boundaries and have even more!) Stitchawl Last edited by Stitchawl; 07-21-2011 at 05:37 AM. |

"Two of 29 governorates of Egypt lie entirely on the Asian Sinai Peninsula and two are transcontinental: Ismailia Governorate is nearly equally divided by the Suez Canal, and Suez Governorate, which is coterminous with the transcontinental city of Suez, has a small portion east of the Canal."

An easy one....
A man was found murdered on Sunday morning. His wife immediately called the police. The police questioned the wife and staff and got these alibis: The Wife said she was sleeping. The Cook was cooking breakfast. The Gardener was picking vegetables. The Maid was getting the mail. The Butler was cleaning the closet. The police instantly arrested the murdered. Who did it and how did they know? Stitchawl |

![]() Seriously, I don't know about Japan, but no mailperson I know of comes on Sunday round these parts, so I"m going to say: the maid. |
