Sadly, since this story came out, all the search results have to do with this lack-lustre browsing feature of Harper Collins

Awesome. i love everything by Gaiman, but american Gods is his best book IMO. Not as light as f.i. Anansi boys, quite heavy in fact, but very well written and completely original, no swords, elves and rings here.

I really like his dry humor and view of good ole' Americana. I got a tiny bit frustrated by the passive behavior of the heroes of both American Gods and Anansi Boys but the stories are so wonderful I got past that.

American Gods has been on my to-read list for a while now, but not in this format. |

Put a good book out for free in a really annoying format and peopl ewill decide to give up and get it in a format they'll enjoy.

Please immediately delete your post! You are going to give all sort of good ideas to publishers and "attractive" formats. | |

I don't know if this will actually get them to see the value of having a book free to download in a format that could be read on a mobile device. It definitely tells them that free samples are good. I'm guessing with those numbers very few people read the entire book online. Most people don't enjoy reading on their computer for extended periods. I bet most people read enough to figure they liked it and then went and bought it.

				Wealthy with Free Books

OMG! I love this site! I'm practically rich in free books from the links at MobileRead. In fact, I've spent so much time downloading them this weekend that I haven't had much time to read! HA! I'm really looking forward to American Gods. Thanks again to everyone for all of the terrific information! |
