Well, I can't deal with the actual numbers, but I do understand the concept. It was first explained to me when I studied about Stonehenge and the Pyramids in a college class called "Mysteries of the Ancients," but I really didn't follow it. But then, when diving off the coast of Borneo we found a Nautilus shell that had broken open, and there was this physicist from UCLA on our dive boat that really opened my eyes to it. He explained it without using numbers so I could follow. The idea just blew me away! It's one of those 'mysteries of life' they are always talking about!

So is the answer Istanbul! Istanbul! Istanbul!?

Istanbul, Constantinople, Byzantium

Haha. Take that. Okay it's the same city.

This may help someone:

Countries that are on two continents, borderwise:
------------------------------------------------
Azerbaijan (Asia and Europe)
Egypt (Asia and Africa)
Kazakhstan - "Central Asia, northwest of China; a small portion west
of the Ural River in eastern-most Europe" (SOURCE: CIA World Factbook,
Russian Republic (Asia and Europe)
Turkey (Asia and Europe)

So Istanbul in Turkey, what else do we have...

I do agree that searches for cities on two continents tend to say Istanbul is the only one.

Actually, there are several more...
Cites located along the Suez Canal are said to be, as is Panama City. It's on both sides of the Panama Canal, which is the dividing line between North (or Central) and South America.

Stitchawl, I don't know if you're right with Panama-City. It is the border between to oceans but not between two continents. Panama as a whole is generally counted as a state of Central America (and the dividing line the border to Colombia).

See below...

(But we can also consider 'trans-continental' three ways; political boundaries, geographical boundaries, and tectonic boundaries and have even more!)

"Most geographers consider Panama to be North America's southernmost nation, entirely within both Central America and North America. An less common alternative view, that the man-made Panama Canal, the "concrete line" splitting the Isthmus of Panama, divides the continents would assign Darién Province to South America, Panamá Province and Colón Province to both, and the six other provinces to North America."

An easy one....

A man was found murdered on Sunday morning. His wife immediately called the police. The police questioned the wife and staff and got these alibis:
The Wife said she was sleeping.
The Cook was cooking breakfast.
The Gardener was picking vegetables.
The Maid was getting the mail.
The Butler was cleaning the closet.

The police instantly arrested the murdered. Who did it and how did they know?

The butler did it!

Seriously, I don't know about Japan, but no mailperson I know of comes on Sunday round these parts, so I"m going to say: the maid.

Well, Special Delivery and Packages do get delivered on Sundays in Japan, but probably no where else on the planet. The answer I was looking for was just that; The maid done it! Take it away, TB, and well done!

Ok, here goes. A little story.

Quote:
In some country far far away, there lived a cruel king. And this king hears an impossible rumour: namely that his wife and his most trusted adviser were carrying on, scandalously so. The kind calls his adviser and asks:
"Is it true? Yes or no. Do not lie!"
"No, it is not, Your Most Royal Highness. I would never do such a heinous act of treachery," the adviser replies.
"I do not believe you. But, seeing that you are my most trusted minister, I will give you a chance to redeem yourself: you have three days to think your answer through. At the end of these three days you will tell me one sentence. Be careful, your life will depend on it. If you lie you to me, I will know and you will be beheaded. Nothing but the truth will spare your life."
Three days later, the king and his adviser meet again. What does the latter say to save his and his lover's life?
