Currently reading The Executioner:Shadow Hunt, one of my guilty pleasure "mens adventure" novels. Finished Eternal Unrest by Lorne Dixon. A tad slow at points but you don't see many mummy based horror novels these days. Awesome read if you like classic horror films. |

I like wizardry, urban fantasy AND mystery. And I didn't care much for Dresden. I hear they got better after the first two, but I didn't make it past 1.5 books to find out. There's so much urban fantasy out there, why bother with something that's meh?

As expected there's no ebook version available. The authors are trying to sell rights overseas but Penguin can't sell copies overseas. So only option is to order a physical copy from a SA retailer.

I don't think it's 'hardboiled' either... I think the violence is mild. And detective wizardry is not appealing to me. And do you like it? that's what I think!! every word! | |

Finished "Against All Enemies", the new Tom Clancy book, last week. It was good but not Clancy good. Although it is an entire new set of characters, he did drop in a cameo to show that the action takes place in the Ryanverse. I'm in the middle of both "Demonic" by Ann Coulter and "Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN" by James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales. |

I'm in the middle of book 8 of the Wheel of Time, The Path of Daggers. Should be towards the end of the series a bit before the last one comes out. Aside from a break to read two Star Wars books inbetween, I have hit the Wheel of Time 1-8 straight so far. |

Just finished Kitty goes to War by Carrie Vaughn (this volume is set in San Francisco's Chinatown) and have started Blood Maidens by Barbrara Hambley (third James Asher novel. I liked the Dresden books but they aren't what I rush out and buy. In fact, I haven't duplicated any in e. They aren't something I'll reread. |

Re: Dresden - they were my intro to urban fantasy and as such have a special place in my heart. I love them...to the point I was willing to go to a Jim Butcher signing and pay 30.00 for a hardback copy of the new book. (The past tense there is because I have to work that night and I won't drive in the city he's signing in, even though it's technically close enough for me to go). But ... tomayto, tomahto, to each his/her own...
