Why not buy directly from Baen? It will be DRM-free and can be sent directly to your Kindle if you want.

Thanks, I realise I can do that. It's just that I have a Fathers' Day outstanding gift token balance at Amazon , so would like to use that preferably.

haha always a good reason. i had some extra funds in my paypal account and i really wish i hadn't looked at baen today. the release date on baen officially says august 1st and on amazon it mentions july 26th so i'm assuming it'll be available everywhere within the next couple of weeks for sure.

since this mornings purchase i've been debating my reading order. do i finish the templar chronicles then go to alpha or just jump right into alpha then finish the templar books. the 3 books together (templar) are 586 total on the kobo and since i'm already done the first i may finish the other two before i move on to alpha but it's tugging at me since i've been sucked into the MHI universe lol. my reading dilemma.

If the triliogy (or series) feels like one book split into 3 (e.g. The Hunger Games) I personally like to read them back-to-back and stay in that world. If they are more self-contained, I quite like to pause and read something different, highten the anticipation for a bit, and come back fresh to the next in the series.

But only you can choose...

I agree with Orlok!

It is a process I've just recently adopted. Although it is less likely to happen with a trilogy, taking a break between the more self-contained books can help prevent series burn out.

Enjoy, either way.

Anyway, Storm Front is a tiny bit better than what I expected. A dry sense of humor now and then helps a lot. But that's it. Nothing more.

Like I said, I'm not into this 'genre' (detective wizard + vampiress + modern Chicago) so I might not continue with Dresden files.

thanks for the suggestions and opinions. i'm one of those people that once i start a series i like to finish, and probably also a reason why i haven't started any series that contain a lot of books in said series. i'm keen on the newer authors and newer series and starting fresh with them and continuing. i get to start out at book 1 knowing there are only 2 books after instead of 23 or 12. or i get to jump on board of book 1 and get to wait anxiously until book 2 comes out.

iron druid chronicles - 3 books signed for 6
mhi 3 books and 2 more mentioned not so much series as universe books
templar chronicles 3 books
steve vail books 2 by noah boyd
hard magic 1 book with a 2nd in the fall and i think a 3rd planned as well
and i'll probably jump on this series as well
jonathan hunt series ( book 1 due in october )
http://josephnassise.com/books/eyes-to-see-4

it's not all i've read but are categorized in the recent books and newer series

after looking at my list they contain monsters / magic / demons / sleuthing and can all be considered in the same fantasy realm except for steve vail and the two books he is in which are probably considered thriller / crime ? i dunno.

I think if most of the books you read are in a similar genre, you probably are better off sticking with one series, at the risk of getting the stories confused . When I dip out from a series, I read something completely different - a comedy or thriller, or an autobiography perhaps.

The second in the Templar series is quite different from the first. The pacing is different and it has a different feel. I think you'll like it, (I liked it but did not love it.) I think you might do okay reading something else and then coming back to book 2 and 3 in Templar--I say that because I think book 2 is kind of an inbetween book for the series.

FWIW.

This is the fifth in her "Young Wizards" series. I think I might have read it before, and I've definitely read the first four before. But the first four are going to be revised to fit the timeline of the later books better (and to make the technology match better too), so I'm not going to re-read them until that's done.
Wow. I'd forgotten how good this series is. Absolutely splendid. Very highly recommended. I'm really looking forward to the revisions of the first four books.

The books can be read out-of-order, although there will obviously be some spoilers for earlier books in later books.

If you've never read them before, I would recommend starting with "So You Want To Be A Wizard?".

For me, straight on to: A Wizard Alone by Diane Duane

The sixth in the series. I think I did read the fifth book, a long time ago. I'm pretty sure I've never read the sixth.

this is why kindle is the best.

found "A history of the French war, ending in the conquest of Canada, with a preliminary account of the early attempts at colonization and struggles for the possession of the continent (c1882)".

i want that book. i find it on archive.org and download it in "Kindle" format to my kindle from the kindle's web browser over free 3g.

easy as pie.

i am extremely happy.
