Unfortunately, you have to do it one at a time. That's one of the reasons why I never wait to remove the DRM... too many things can go wrong. If you're ever planning on removing DRM, you should do it immediately after purchasing. Preparation to (maybe) do it later is preparation wasted... this scenario where you have to re-download everything is a perfect example of that.

Buy book -> Download to K4PC -> Import into Calibre to remove DRM -> Transfer to Kindle. That way I know that I have the DRM-free version safe in my Calibre library.

So removal through the Kindle itself still works? Too bad that was this new version of K4PC that started to have some protection against the tools, because the implementation of collections really helps. I'm curious if you create one collection in one place or in the other if it appears it its counterpart, e.g. You create a collection on K4PC and it updates in Kindle. |

Since you have devices that handle ePub (Sony PRS-300/650, Kobo, 2 x Jetbook Lite (wife's)), why would you buy from Amazon? It's the least convenient way to get eBooks. You then have to strip the DRM, convert to ePub, fix them up from there and sometimes they can be such a mess that it's not all that easy to fix up. Buying ePub straight off would be the most convenient way to get eBooks for your devices.

Collections don't automatically "migrate" from one device to another, but you can load collections on one device from another. Doing so will, however, wipe out any collections that you currently have on that device.

Maybe. I don't know what triggered the K4pc 2 thing to happen. I have removed both versions from my computer and tried to reinstall K4pc with no luck. Seems its K4pc 2 or nothing. Easier for me to simply not buy from amazon. I may become one of those very few with a new printer/scanner.

Am I missing something? When I buy a book from Amazon, I can manually transfer it off the device, and import it into Calibre. Why the worry about Kindle4PC? I guess it's a naive question, but I don't see where. Perhaps it's because I have never upgraded the FW of my Kindle 3 (3.02 IIRC), as wireless is almost always off.

Buy book -> Download to K4PC -> Import into Calibre to remove DRM -> Backup to flash drive and external hard drive. I don't keep all my books on my Kindle. Carol
