Request Upgrading EE to 2.2, setting password on EE, and other requests.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site, so please excuse any repetition. I have the EE still on 1.6 and I would like to upgrade to 2.2 if possible. I also want to be able to set a password on my EE such that it is locked on startup and locks after sleep/hibernation and the password is required to log in. Finally, I want my EE to find & connect to my phone's wireless network (it is an ad hoc connection and my EE doesn't even see it). Can someone help with these requests?

I use the free app "My Settings" (there may also be a "My Settings Pro" version) to set a device lock. I know there's a second app that other people here use, too.

Hello, Yellowman! Most of the information you asked for - including installing Froyo and setting up a lockscreen - can be found in the Ermine tweaks thread, which is located at the top of the forum. As for your other request, I'm not sure if Android can locate an ad hoc network. What kind of phone do you have? I have an Optimus V with Android 2.2, and I use QuickSettings to enable a wi-fi hotspot.

Thanks for the response KennyMinot, I have a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone (HTC Touch Pro 2 on Sprint in the U.S.). I am running a custom rom on it and enabling wifi internet sharing is cooked into the rom.

I'll check the Ermine thread for the answers to my other questions.

The edges cannot connect with ad hoc networks; hotspots, yes.
