With 'Tramadol' you don't need to 'convince.' I use it for my back when it goes out. No more pain, but I have urge to move out of my recliner either!

I did not know that about Newfies. Airedale Terriers are notoriously stoic, and so similarly for them to show obvious symptoms of suffering is not a good sign, and as I've experienced with the three I've owned (the late Monty...he reminded me of the Black Knight: "It's just a flesh wound! Come back 'ere, I'll bite your kneecaps off!).

So, big hugs from me too. Newfies are awesome, and deserve everything you give.

@KK...oh, poor baby. Both of you, actually...hopefully the meds will keep her from wanting to overdo. Explaining to a Newfie why she can't do what she wants might be a chore even for KK the pet whisperer, LOL.

In other news: The state of Texas is running 6 - 8 weeks behind on issuing new driver's licenses and photo ID's. This means that Jay won't be coming up this summer - he'll get his ID (which is required for any sort of public transportation since he's over 14), until just about the time school starts. So I guess we'll start planning for Thanksgiving or Christmas

. I hate for the kids to travel during winter, the weather here is so unpredictable. And with a shorter time frame for those holidays, he'll have to fly. He hates planes, and I hate airports.

Are you saying the it's now required to show ID to travel interstate on public transportation OTHER than planes? Oh my...

It won't be long now. They have been trying to pass the new laws concerning "Passport Cards" for a couple of years now. Keeps getting voted down, but by a smaller margin each time. I got one when I renewed my regular passport as I figure there will be a rush for them once the law is passed. The idea is that they want to make it a law that you must show this pass card to travel from one state to another. Several states already have Official Border Crossing check points, and have had for many years. They want to establish these for all states.

Yes, it's also required for Amtrak. And I won't put him on a bus....too many opportunities for him to be snatched.

I just want her to rest comfortably. I put something in her bowl as a treat a little while ago, she got up to check it out and started screaming, scared herself, moved around the kitchen too much *sigh*

I just noticed a line in the Wiki page about the new Passport cards that I hadn't paid attention to before...
"Under the REAL ID Act, ...SNIP....when those requirements go into effect.
It appears that some of the Passport card's functions have already passed into law, just not effected as yet. We are not so very far from joining many other countries that require its citizens to carry a National ID card at all times. Step by step by step... we are getting closer.

Sequels. Sequels of sequels. Sequels of sequels of sequels. . . .

I live in a very small town with only one movie theater. Actually there are only two movies theaters in the entire county. The theater here shows one movie at a time, generally for a period of one week to ten days, with one showing a day (evenings on weekdays and matinees on weekends). We generally do not get a screening of a film until weeks, sometimes months, after the initial release. Some films never make it here at all*.

So anyway walking by the theater this morning I noticed that the new film is Cars II. Prior to that it was The Hangover Part II. And before that it was Transformers 3. Before that Pirates of the Caribbean 4. I don't actually recall what the film was before that. It Keeps Making Millions V?

So this explains why I can't recall the last time I went to a theater to see a movie. The total lack of creativity and originality in the film industry, and it's caution at attempting anything unproven.

*Note that this need not be true for all small towns. Years ago the university at which I did graduate school had an art house type theater even though it was a very small town. This let me see such films as The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith, Christiane F., Walk About, etc.
