I have a double entry for my Count of Monte Christo books. One is the free edition you can find everywhere, the other the Pinguin edition. The title is the same, the author is the same, only the publisher is different.

But, you're right, you can never please everyone. But even if you could, what if Calibre would be perfect? What would Kovid (and all contributors) do with all his spare time then!

Basically, ePub i buy are rarely "perfect" at first. I most common problem being too large margins. So I correct that. But I also want to keep the original non-corrected version, just in case.
And as it is now, the opus and the orizon are treating margins differently.

You obviously didn't read the review, since I stated it was only for the mac, and did not actually recommend the software at all, it's quite terrible actually.

Kovid, I wasn't looking for something more aesthetically pleasing than calibre, it was just a contrast of the two managers. Don't worry, Function > Aesthetics

Interface design can be a tricky thing. Software developers often have a team of dedicated UI designers who have done tons of research and focus group testing to determine the "best" interface layout and features, so home grown software like Calibre tends to be a little rougher around the edges.

However, speaking as a "power user", I prefer the power and flexibility of a program like Calibre as opposed to, say, most Mac OS apps which feature large, shiny buttons but zero flexibility for doing things your own way.
