				Sonys in the wild!

Thought of you all on the way home on the bus just now -- I sat between someone using a 900 on one side and a 300 across the aisle on the other.

Wow! More than one on the same bus! I'd say that's a very rare sighting.

Definitely rare. I'm the only person I ever see using a Sony. |

I saw a guy using his 300 on the bus (today's 300 reader was female) a while ago. I don't think I've seen any x50's yet.

Sony ereaders seem quite rare to see. I wonder if a captive breeding program is necessary? I have seen a mix of Kobo's, Kindles and iPads locally. But it seems a lot of peple are reading on smartphones as well. |

I was at the hairdressers last Saturday, and saw a woman reading on a Sony 350. Lovely little machine. Its the only one I have seen. Mag. |

Maybe people who can afford to buy a Sony don't ride the bus. |

I'm taking it as a dig at bus riders myself.

Everyone I know who has an eReader has either a Nook or a Kindle. And of course, lost of people read on their smartphones. So I have never seen a Sony in the wild, unless the ones on display at Borders count. |

I never see e-readers unless I leave town... I did see several on the plane when I recently flew from the NW to southern CA. Here in town, the only time I've ever seen another was at library e-reader "play dates". I know folks have them here, thanks to the library play dates, but maybe I'm the only one besides hubby who regularly takes mine out and about. We often take them with us to restaurants. I'll whip mine out at the grocery store if I have to stand in line long. I have gotten a few comments on both Nook and Sony as "Is that one of those e-reader gadgets?" Or, "I've heard about those, never seen one before." or "Are you reading a book?" As yet, I've not once heard the "Is that a Kindle?" comment that many non-Kindle owners seem to post that they get. As for the library "play dates", other than a small older Sony model the library owned as an example of a different brand of e-reader, I'm the only one that has shown up with a Sony so far. This is a small town though, population around 17,000 and in a rural area. So one doesn't really expect to see wads of hi-tech gadgets. I haven't seen any tablets of any kind out in the wild either. Nor do you see many pulling out a netbook or a laptop. |

I talked to someone the other day who had no idea of what an ereader was let alone that there were different brands. I was floored. I bought my daughter (who claims to hate reading) a Sony and she reads like she has to in order to save her life.
