Uhm, Wifi KSO is $114, so $114-$50=$64, not $89. Unless you mean $50 off the price of the wifi model.

the $50 figure threw me, since 3G KSO only dropped by $25.

The latter. K3 3G ($189) - $50 = KSO 3G ($139); so K3 WiFi ($139) - $50 would be KSO WiFi ($89).

Ah, ok. I was going based on the price of what the KSO 3g used to be to what it was changed to.

I think part of the larger price drop compared to the Wifi-only is that Amazon figures 3G = easier to buy books = more book purchases from Amazon.

I think that price point really kills off both non-ad versions. Is the Kindle's future one of ad-only versions?

Yep; Bezos said they read 20% more books and take advantage of twice as many special offers.

Who knows; maybe they'll kill off the other three K3 versions?
