What if the sentient chickens are serving up the non-sentient chickens to save themselves? To use a sci-fi analogy, the emperor chicken is sending out storm trooper chickens to become dinner to ensure that everyone is full before they can get to him.

Since the Chook Emperor's Storm Trooper chickens are clones, they can produce them extremely fast. Of course, that means a never-ending supply of very yummy chickens.

Let's just hope there are no Klingon chickens.

Added: Of course, we could follow the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy and breed chickens that want to be eaten. Imagine looking outside and seeing a massive number of chickens who want nothing more than to jump in a frying pan.
