Frequent Force Closes - do I have a bad SD card interface?

So, I've tried 7.0.3, and all the nightlies up to about yesterday, but I repeatedly have the same experience: The install to SD card goes fine but, sooner or later, I start getting streams of force close problems, which rebooting does not fix.

I noticed that I was seeing files show up in both the LOST.DIR in both the eMMC and SD card file systems, so I tried a different SD card. At this point, I've tried a Transcend 8gb class 6, a PNY 8gb class 4, an old no-name 4gb class 4 and an old Sandisk 2gb card.

Are the cards the problem? Or does the problem lay elsewhere?

The one other thing I can point to is a couple of times I've rebooted and the NC didn't even see that there was an SD card in the slot. This makes me wonder if it's not the cards themselves, but the slot is the problem. I've blown air into it and so forth, but no joy.

The cards that seem to most consistently perform well as boot drives are Sandisk class 2 and 4, 8GB and 16GB sizes. If you're able to benchmark the cards you have, the telling statistic is 4kb random writes. Most cards have 4kb random writes 10x or 100x lower than the above mentioned Sandisk cards.

Class itself is irrelevant to using a card as an Android boot drive. Even some Sandisks in the above class and size don't bench well for 4kb random writes, but those cards have been overall most reliable.

Oh, holy heck. I googled all around for that info and never found it. Thanks. Certainly explains why the little 2gb card seemed the most reliable - it was just too small to put much stuff on....

Sigh.

Thanks. I'd give you some karma but the website says I have to "spread it around" before I can give you more. (don't remember the last time I did, actually....)

I have used a transcend 8gb class 6 card and without a problem with FC's except if I use Pulse app. I am guessing that their probably other apps that would be a problem but haven't encountered others.

I did switch to a 4gb class 2 Sandisk which I found real cheap and I cannot recall the last FC.

Interesting, because that's exactly the brand of one of the 8gb cards I tried. Got it from Amazon.
