FW used to be such a nice e-bookstore, but now that BN has hamstrung them, I sometimes wonder why BN doesn't just put FW out of their misery??? Maybe they just don't want to have to figure out how to support all the legacy DRM-ed eReader titles? Or maybe they do get some price differentiation out of FW on non-agency titles - getting us bottom feeders to buy from FW and thus not having to drop prices on their main BN site?

I for one would be devastated if FW disappeared. They are one of the few places I can get good digital books from small digital publishers. I just these past couple months since getting my phone have been buying Secure Reader format but FW to me has alot to offer that I can't find anywhere else. I get my Wild Rose Press from there and few others. I now get some of the HQ Titles from there when there is a good coupon as well.

I for one do not shop at B&N or care to even deal with them but I love Fictionwise and hope they stay around.
Awww - thanks.

I have to agree with Blossom. Even though FW isn't nearly as good as it used to be, I can still find good deals there. It seems like every time I find a new author I am interested in there will at least be a couple of the books at FW and at a good price with a coupon. I like the eReader app on my iPOD.

I like the eReader app, too. I also loved the B&N eReader app and vastly preferred it to the current Nook app; I wish B&N hadn't stopped supporting it. I still keep it on my iPod for those B&N books I bought before the switch.

I blame the Agency more than B&N for the demise of Fictionwise. That was the end of across-the-board couponing and discounts.

Pornicopia comes to mind...

As for FW, I haven't managed to buy anything in a while, tho I do access the account to download the books I can still access. (Highly annoying that all my Microsoft LIT books are inaccessable. I wish Fictionwise would give me options as to what to do about those...)

Me, too! Exactly! I hated the version on my Clie, where you had to enter your name and credit card number on every book the first time you opened it. The autoscroll function was horrid, had set speeds and was very jerky (well, that hasn't changed). I always preferred Mobipocket, as you could change the speed incrementally by pushing the up or down buttons and it was pretty smooth. Since I have the touch screen on my iPod I don't have to worry about that too much.

Yes, the agency thing definitely played a large part, but things were already going downhill as soon as B&N bought them.
